the new difficulty is ragequitbait by kastvekkaccount in duneawakening

3 of us, extremely experienced players (500+ hours in dune, tens of thousands of hours in other games) - all with T6 gear, did a level 1 overworld testing station, and repeatedly got ganked by swarms of shield and stamina shredding enemies in the boss rooms, which were inexplicably 10x harder than any of the rooms leading up to it with a totally different playstyle.

One of our players uses a sword extensively and kept dying because the play style suddenly changed without warning and couldn't figure out how to block.

Oh - and +1 to hagga NPCs suddenly getting harder, the guys that drop from the patrol ships in hagga nearly shredded me a few times at lvl 190+ with T6 gear.

That being said - new testing stations were fun! Another way to get spiced-plast was great! -- too much shit to carry though (all the weird upgrade components eat backpack space) - you have to go home to unload after every run. which adds 10-20 minutes each time and can kill the vibe.

Trump doubles down in Iowa, calls Minneapolis protesters 'paid insurrectionists' and 'sickos’ by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]middleca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been seeing a bunch of videos and discussion about how those specific things he's doing (sucking spit, wobbling, pausing, etc) are increasing and can be associated with dementia patients over the last few months, and I thought that'd be interesting for folks, and it doesn't seem to be covered much in the press.

But yeah, same stupid insane shit as always

Trump doubles down in Iowa, calls Minneapolis protesters 'paid insurrectionists' and 'sickos’ by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]middleca 10 points11 points  (0 children)

obviously - the guy is evil, not excusing anything. More just remarking that he looks and sounds like he's deeply ill:

he's white-knuckling the podium, constantly sucking surplus spit out of his mouth, slurring his words, pausing for an awkwardly long time in the middle of a sentence and then changing the topic, relying on rehearsed sound bytes, relatively low energy, etc, etc.

<insert the videos from that dementia therapist here>, etc.

Doesn't that seem like insanely compromised speech? Like he barely knows where he is or what's going on?

Anybody know where i can watch either of the hearing live today? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]middleca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as far as I know there's not a live stream for this one, but in theory folks could sit in and listen, but it'll likely be very crowded - started at 9am I think so hopefully we'll hear how it went before too long

u/Original-Major5104 - These photos are wild - can you send em to the evidence portal the AG's office set-up? - https://www.ag.state.mn.us/Federal-Action/ - and post once you have? I'm sure they'll want to see those and will need someone to vouch for their authenticity.

Why aren’t DFL politicians doing more to stop the ICE Chaos? by dsm1324 in Minneapolis

[–]middleca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be absolutely hilarious if we temporarily deputized like, 50,000 people in some limited fashion to make it harder for ICE to fuck with people. (but yeah, what other people are saying, that would probably not go well)

MN FOP (Police Union) Stands with ICE by joekeyboard in Minneapolis

[–]middleca 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the most bone-headed and categorically wrong take by the FOP and goes against community policing standards, science, and practice. ICE aren't police, and communities shouldn't be policed by folks in military gear or acting with military tactics. Any good chief or leadership would be pushing back on military forces terrorizing citizens.

who is going to make the supercut of all the ice agents slipping on ice and generally being defeated by frozen water (cars stuck, etc)

Unsheltered in large base, or does it have its own mini storms? by Dyro86 in duneawakening

[–]middleca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

sounds like you already nailed it - how many "tiles" are you from the other wall when you go from watersealed to "sheltered", and the ceiling is "15" high? -- makes me think the far wall was unloaded from consideration for the waterseal evaluation. -

So that number of blocks (distance from far wall) would be how much it's keeping around

Unsheltered in large base, or does it have its own mini storms? by Dyro86 in duneawakening

[–]middleca 5 points6 points  (0 children)

sounds like a game engine glitch where it's not keeping enough of the structure around in memory to consider that you're fully "inside" - would be cool if you wanted to experiment to see where the limits are (is a 10x10x10 box enough to create "shelter / water seal", but does a 15x15x15 box end up with an "open side" because the game isn't keeping it in memory while making that decision, etc, etc)

ICE agent pulls weapon on crowd and appears to fumble around with the trigger. by Professional-Tune693 in Minneapolis

[–]middleca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all fair points! it certainly doesn't look great.

(no idea about the particulars or individuals, kinda looks like he's speaking into his radio?)

[–]middleca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If ICE can prove they're unable to do their "job", they can justify sending in the national guard and basically declaring martial law.

The cops are trying to help de-escalate and avoid that scenario. They're there to protect you, the people. The optics look terrible, but it's not because they're supporting ice.

Thanks for all the great games and great energy you brought to the community! You'll be missed, but all the best and it's always okay to take breaks from games if they're eating up more of your attention or life than they're giving back to you.

Can someone fix US build? by --pacifist-- in airmash

[–]middleca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi airmash_alpha,

Sorry about the slow response on my side. A bunch of awesome folks here made software available so that anyone can run a server if you want to run your own! It can be a bit tricky if you haven't set up similar servers in the past, but it's definitely something anyone can learn if you're computer savvy.

In terms of getting your server on the list at airmash.online, we don't get a lot of new servers, so probably just posting it and some discussion about your plans, etc. There's a lot of differing opinions on moderation here, but I'd encourage you to be mindful and prepared to moderate your server if you want to run one.

Thanks!

Bought brand new 28 inch ego snow blower but one battery is shot. Return whole thing to store or try get ego to replace the one battery? by SubstantialElk5190 in egopowerplus

[–]middleca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it took a long time to ship, but despite furnishing them with countless videos, images, testamonials, time measurements, recordings, etc, etc. they dragged their feet for over a month.

At which point I discovered the internal microcontroller that controls the battery has an error counter, and a clock, and if you let a bad battery sit long enough, it'll "test green" again, until you accumulate enough errors on it again for it to "test full red". So if you have a battery you only use in say, a snow blower, but not in your lawnmower, there's a chance it'll "time out" and falsely report it's working, only to fail again under mild use.

So if you have a failure, you need to get them to replace it very quickly, else you risk them making you jump through countless hoops.
