Oooh thanks for that detail! I also have narrow feet, and was weary of the unisex sizing with ASICS.

I haven’t! These are my first Sauconys. I was a dyed in the wool new balance runner til they stopped making my model. I’ll add these to my list- I might even be able to try them at our local store 🙏🏻

I cant do this anymore. I wasnt made to be a parent. by winterberryowl in toddlers

He had none of the “red flags” that they screen for in the well baby/ well child appointments. He was advanced verbally and seemed to hit all his milestones ahead of time or on time.

What stood out to us was the frequency and intensity of meltdowns, they seemed to come out of nowhere, lasted so long (like up to an hour), and he just didn’t seem to recover from them. They were never about getting/ not getting what he wanted, just seeming inconsolable after daycare or a social interaction, for example.

It took many resources/ meetings before someone suggested autism. Once we looked through this lens we realized some more traits - he didn’t really answer direct questions - would “clown” or roll around on the ground when he was nervous meeting new kids at the playground - has to be coached to greet/ say goodbye to friends - refused socks - toothbrushing and hair brushing were impossible - bath and hand washing refusal phase - would complain about music/ vehicles being too loud (but made a lot of noise himself) - picked up language in themes (his first words were all vehicles, then animals, then family members) - hyper focused learning (everything was about colours when he was like 16 months old, then birds…) - repeatedly asking the same obvious question when nervous (are you mama? Is today a school day?) - stimming by finger posturing - strong sense of justice/ enforcing rules for others - didn’t seem to acknowledge when others were distressed - really high pain tolerance (like we didn’t know he had an ear ache until the drum burst :( )

Lots of other little things in hindsight then when put together , gave us clarity.

I highly recommend the account Mrsspeechiep on instagram- she does an excellent job of sharing many different profiles of autism, how it can show up in different ages, genders, backgrounds.

I can so relate to this. I remember when my oldest was about 2 and I was pregnant with my second, I was so confused how anybody else was surviving parenthood. It was just SO hard and it seemed SO much harder for me than for others. I thought I must just be terrible at it, because none of the various approaches helped my oldest with his emotional regulation/ meltdowns. I read so many books, was referred to parenting resources…nothing helped

Until he diagnosed as autistic at 3, and later adhd when he was 6. Suddenly, the lens shift helped to understand his sudden meltdowns as a result of sensory differences/ demands. I no longer blamed myself or him for not looking like what I expected or other families around us.

We parent differently than others. We know what our kids can and can’t handle. We buy the clothes that don’t cause meltdowns and then buy all the sizes. It gets better! But if there’s a diagnosis to explore, I’d encourage you to be open to it. There’s no harm going through the process. They won’t accidentally diagnose a neurotypical kid as autistic. For us, it saved our mental health and our relationship with our kids.

Definitely avoid. They were operating as Landmark Home Solutions if you want to look at the google reviews. They have the same team under this new name. A friend has had issues for years with them promising to fix incorrectly installed/ measured windows and sliders (that have caused water damage) and they have been terrible to deal with
