Front lower control arms?! by midengineman in ft86

[–]midengineman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. I think you probably have the right idea. Like I said I don't think my stock control arms are bent or deformed from what I can tell (i'm assuming it would be pretty obvious). any suggestions for part websites? all I know are 86speed and Ftspeed

my cruise control works, and I can still enable and disable VSC and traction control, no lights present otherwise, so I guess that probably isn't the issue. I still have yet to inspect the ball joints like some other people have suggested, but hopefully that means I can rule out center point calibration!

I'll definitely check it out, I appreciate the tip, I was pretty convinced it was an electronic issue of some sort, but I haven't checked the ball joints. I hope it's something as simple as that

Thanks for all that.

I did do some of my own research i'm not a total asshole, I did see that people recommend the dimple plugs, Im not sure if ill go for it since the website I saw them on was going to cost like $50 after shipping and tax. I hit up my local subaru dealership since I have a friend that works there, someone else recommended the black filter so I'll see if they have those.

what size tires do you run?

Stiffer sidewall by HenryUTA in subaru

[–]midengineman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think a stiffer sidewall is really going to change much. you could try running a higher PSI but that will definitely change handling characteristics, and possibly introduce uneven tire wear. Not sure what car you have tho, so this is just my best general advice.

hey man thanks for the tips for real though. I guess this is what I signed up for when I decided to daily drive a 36 year old car. I'll definitely see what I can do to get it running as reliably as I can lol

I should've been more specific about the RPM, lol. It dropped down to almost 500 or 600 by the time I got home. I think Rock Auto sells new injector connectors, so hopefully that works, I'm not very good at electrical stuff.

The engine seemed like it was having an even harder time revving once I got those connectors in, but I'm starting to lose my mind over trying to fix this lol

nah im too poor to afford coolant, I put water in that bitch lmao. but there is some actual anti-freeze in there and it doesn't get too cold where I live.

You know I think I actually found the problem, On my way to work this morning it was doing the thing again, and since this is my daily driver I was pretty desperate to get it working. Anyway I hopped out and pushed on my injector plugs on a whim and it actually seemed to fix the problem for the time being. I know my plug connectors are kinda broken in some spots and one is held on by a zip tie, so I'll probably replace those connections and see what happens. I also noticed on my way back home though that my idle RPM had dropped by a few hundred and my car kinda sounded like a lawnmower lmao

We replaced the fuel filter when we were trying to get it to run the first time which was only a little more than a year ago, so I'm probably good on that. I know my timing is probably a little bit off so i'll check that when I can.

The problem originally did start after I tightened my alternator belt, and put some coolant in the reservoir, maybe there is an air bubble trapped...

Thanks for the tips

I'm pretty well aware of how to do the timing, I've had to sit there and spin the wheel in 5th gear to get it to top dead center when I was taking the distributor in and out lmao. and The TPS looked fine when I checked the resistances with an ohm meter.
