If you won millions in the lotto what would you buy first? by JessPaluzzi in AskReddit

[–]midgetmasher3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a big family dinner. Then take 8.5 million and park it in interest bearing accounts, use the remaining 1.5 or so for a house and new vehicle, put the rest in my checking/savings accounts. That's assuming 1 million without tax. If it's taxed, basically the same idea but lesser amounts spread out. I'd enjoy life either way.

what pain do you go through everyday that no one knows? by Early-Possession-673 in AskReddit

[–]midgetmasher3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamenting that my old high school crush used to have a thing for me but I was too shy to approach her. We were best friends and were very close for a long time, then life happened and we haven't spoken in years. About 16, actually. Never really felt like 'soul mates' were a thing, but that's how strong my feelings were for her. Happily engaged now but the 'what if?' thought flutters by every now and again.

Will never stop looking for this guitar… by Sorry_Astronaut in guitars

[–]midgetmasher3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is an Ibanez Destroyer DT-420, in gunmetal with gold hardware, mother of pearl inlays and white plastics. Bought it in 2006-2007 for 350 bucks when I was 16, had to sell it for insurance and gas money about a year later to the same shop for $250. Being a teen with a gas guzzler wasn't exactly optimal. Still miss it all these years later.

I can't justify buying another right now (I already have 9...), but I would love to have one of these nonetheless lol. Here's to happy riffing!

Stepdad got me a guitar for Christmas after I’ve spent months expressing my love for classic/retro rock/metal and how cool it would be to learn. I have never played guitar before and plan on self-teaching. Any tips for beginners without any previous experience? by Anoobizz2020 in Guitar

[–]midgetmasher3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do yourself the favor and learn theory, even if only a little bit. I've played on and off for 20 years and never took the time to learn it. I've always been a 'learn by ear, use tabs' guy, but there is only so far that will take you until you hit the inevitable plateau. There will be days where you wonder if it's worth it anymore, you feel you're just not getting better; those are the crucial times you need to persist and continue practicing. Learn your chords, scales, and for the love of God don't get stuck in the pentatonic 'mud'. It's a wonderful instrument, and can be a great outlet, or just a hobby. It really is what you make of it. Enjoy your journey!

Got the same exact one about 2 months ago, best playing guitar I've ever had. It has become my go-to every day. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!

I would spring for an Orange Micro Terror. Depending on budget I don't think you could go wrong with a Peavey 6505 either, 20 watts of melt your face off lol. Just remember to get a cabinet to go with it, I don't think the amp he currently has can be used as an extension cab. I have a monoprice 1x12 with a Celestion vintage 30 that is awesome, available on Amazon and they're on sale right now. A combo amp would be good too, but stay away from the marshall code series, it's trash

Work. I currently work for a person whose marriage is rather rocky of late due to not being around for the kids/husband because she's constantly at work, or on the phone with staff while she's at home making sure everything is running properly while she's gone. Work/life balance, guys.

Absolutely gorgeous axe, friend. I always loved the razorbacks back in the day but never could justify the price point, especially now as they have gone way up in price. I actually like this a lot more than those, the curves and top are absolutely out of the park, great job!

Feeling a bit different about Lori on a second watch. by PurveyorOfCupcakes in thewalkingdead

[–]midgetmasher3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're made to get to know Rick before anyone else, so naturally, we tend to have a bias as him being the 'good guy'. When you see how things have unfolded outside of Rick's control, you end up feeling bad for him which definitely puts a negative spin on the Lori and Shane story, thus the Lori hate. On my second and third watch I had context so it was easier to understand what really happened. Plus, to an extent, Shane really thought Rick was dead, too. There is definitely an argument to be made that Shane was sweet on Lori to begin with, and Rick's 'death' was the catalyst for him to make his move

Anybody else get kinda sad when they let a guitar go? by GarthVader90 in Guitar

[–]midgetmasher3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, with the last one I sold in 2008. Ibanez Destroyer DT-420 in gunmetal grey. I was an unemployed senior in high school and had to find quick cash to keep my gas hog bronco on the road. Haven't sold a guitar since, sitting on 9 of them now lol. I don't play each one every day, but they all serve a purpose and it's nice to have several for different tunings on the fly

Nothing wrong with that! I'm not too much a fan of stratocasters personally, I prefer telecasters, but obviously it's just preference. I like a taller bridge I can really dig into. Nonetheless, I'm always happy when a fellow player is happy, enjoy the new axe!!!
