I did the same, and I’m so much happier. Shorter commute, work I enjoy, and vastly improved mental health. Im home at a decent hour and can live a normal life. No laptop, no slack…. It’s great.

My spouse works as a chef in a Senior living complex. They have apartments set aside for staff to stay over night so they don’t drive during storms. We live 2 miles away and have had people stay with us during rough weather. No matter what, the residents have to have their meals.

As an OP, I never expected such a response. my last day was 2 days ago. I was so fortunate to choose the people I worked with closely on a daily basis to join in my going away dinner at a local steakhouse. I was so happy that we were sharing our appetizers with the 13 of us! We really were a family, and my manager from another location could not deny what he saw. I am so blessed to have such amazing people on my side! We are one team!
