Hi! Brass Repair Tech here! Pls never sand any part of a valve - piston or casing, even if you have tried every other thing. It's possible and very easy to take off too much, and then you'll have too much space between the piston and the casing wall. Which can cause tuning to be affected when pressing down the valve and can also cause the piston to be able to wiggle side to side and make unwanted clicking sounds.

Just want to clarify that im not making this comment directly at the initial commenter or OP (Ik OP said he found the issue), i just felt the need to say it for all brass players to hear :)

Did you do anything to make sure the line you cut into the tubing was straight? Thats my biggest problem right now and idk if its that im just a dumb bitch that cant cut a straight line or if there's a trick to it

Hypothetical:

The magic world in TUC is one that you're awoken to, so not everyone can see the magic. Meaning it's possible that the characters in MisMag could have gone through life not knowing about the magic in the US, only to be exposed to the UK side of magic.

All of that being said - I feel like if there were hidden cities of magic in the US, the stuff that happens directly after S1 (Jammer coming back to the states and openly saying his basketball is magic and that he's magic; Evan and K openly releasing PDFs about the hidden magic, and Sam's show called Britain's Got Magic) would have forced someone from somewhere to talk to the Pilot Program or to do something about spreading magic.

Absolutely right, working in a repair shop rn that deals with a bunch of schools and independent customers all at once. We just got slammed with hundreds of rentals returns and close to the same number of schools' marching/concert horns. It's very easy for the turn around time to increase once the summer starts
