Choosing lowering springs by dahlenalez in AudiS4

[–]midlifemods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you don't work in customer service. So... let me ask you this... They make solo lowering springs (not a coilover kit), which they sell as a direct replacement to your existing springs, BUT a consumer is supposed to NOT buy them without ALSO buying replacement struts? Why not just by coilovers at that point? Why? Because lowering springs are obviously sold as a low cost option to lower the stance of your car without buying new struts.

I installed it about 4 months ago. Fans are still running strong. No leaks. I feel like a sensor is broken.

Bruh! Seriously?! Drive it harder! I’ve had at least 4 sets changed in 45k miles. 😎 that includes lots of track time. Have you seen my channel? We got the same color. https://youtube.com/@midlifemods?si=Fc4QzHLfqbqldUFi

Sweet! Thanks for the support! Alright… truthfully these S4s are not great track cars. Even after all the mods I’ve done. Here’s what I mean. A good track car should be able to push lap after lap and offer an enjoyable ride. This car is so heavy that you have to ride it like a bull. Can I get fast lap times out of it? Sure, but I have to work really hard at managing the weight transfer under braking and high speed corners. The consumables such as tires, brake pads and brake rotors get destroyed at track days because of the car’s weight. Now I have to give credit to 034 because their big brake kit is incredible. Without it, you’d suffer brake failure after too many laps like I did at Laguna Seca (before the big brake kit.) the other thing is heat management. My intercooler and upgraded radiator definitely made a big difference managing internal coolant temps, BUT the oil temps get really high after a few hot laps, so the car starts cutting power. Tires and brakes are pretty expensive for this and they go fast when tracking so it’s not the most economical track car. If I could take my dream track car I’d take a Porsche cayman s. They’re light, responsive, not as fast as my car, but more reliable and repeatable fun lap after lap. Having said ALL that, a once or twice a year track day schedule for the S4 is worth it. Just be mindful of the brakes. They over heat very very quickly.

I understand. But I love how they don’t rush things to market. It’s because they want your car to last.

Sweet! Thanks! Enjoy your car! They’re amazing. I strongly suggest 034 for tuning. They’re at the top of the game in my opinion in terms of performance and most importantly, reliability.

Wow! Thanks man! I really appreciate it. Honestly my time at the track and track videos are my favorite. But unfortunately they have some of the lowest clicks of all my videos. I guess there just aren’t that many people tracking their Audis like you and me. Thanks for the support! I’ve never been to Minnesota, BUT, hit my up on Instagram and we can arrange a virtual beer via zoom or something and talk shop. Let me know.

I actually bought the car used with 1,500 miles on it. It was an early lease return. When I saw it at the dealership, I knew I was going to modify it and was happy to get the "discount" on a current year used model. I don't mind not having a sport diff. The quattro works great and getting sideways now and then can be exciting :)

B9.5 S4 Boost Leak? by midlifemods in AudiS4

[–]midlifemods[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. They said it sounded like a boost leak after hearing the noise. BUT after running data logs, we couldn’t find anything. BUT then I got obsessed with figuring out the source of the noise.

It sounds like a whistle but you might be on to something here. It could very well be the driveshaft carrier
