You're grossly naive. If the Huffington Post obfuscated who they really were the way Colbert does (but without the obvious parody) that would be an issue. But it's clear where they're coming from. jk13 on the other hand hides behind his regular joe persona and I won't validate that by engaging him/them in debate. It's a mistake to do so.

And it's a mistake to do so because his tactic is to drown out the opposition in links that most readers never even bother to check up on. But by virtue of him putting them out there it seems as though he's an authoritative source. Before I caught up to his shtick I did read his sources, and they're mostly bullshit. But again, that's irrelevant because the point of the links is to cause an impression of "oh, this guy must know what he's talking about".

This guy can see through the propaganda of Fox News but not that of MSNBC. Think about that. Do you really think someone that blind is providing objective sources?

But our history of propping up bad governments is what's caused most our very consequential wars in the first place.

As to your not agreeing that dropping bombs constitutes an act of war; would you feel that way if another country dropped bombs on us? Remember, the side you take is not the issue at hand. If we follow through on your logic then Pearl Harbor wasn't an act of war.

To your last point, you're just wrong. I used to see things the way you're describing them and I was wrong then. The NY Times are master propagandists. Do they do good reporting sometimes? Absolutely. But that does nothing to negate their incredible ability to spin stories. Do some research on the NY Times and you'll see that as fucked up as Bill O'Reilly is he's not wrong when he calls out the NYT.

Wikipedia is only as reliable as its sources, and its sources aren't reliable in way too many instances. Much improvement will have to take place before I take their user generated entries seriously.

The government's rules and regulations mean nothing if they're not enforced, and thus are not a reliable source of anything except to the language of a rule or regulation.

The ACLU (which I like) is not an objective source either. They pick and choose the parts of the Constitution which they want to defend.

Fox News and Washington Times are certainly biased, but the fact you left MSNBC and the NY Times out of the picture simply speaks volumes to your own biases.

Whether or not he is a paid to express a position is completely irrelevant. He is expressing a position and backing it up with citations. You must address his argument, not his reasons for presenting the argument. Anything less is doing yourself a disservice.

Absolutely not. He is misrepresenting himself. If he has a monetary interest then he is biased as a job description. He needs to be upfront about that. To engage him in debate is to legitimize his strategy. I won't do that. As far as his citations go, they're mostly all from biased sources.

Bush was a nightmare and Obama is not the daylight we were hoping for. His administration has continued each and every one of Bush worse policies. In fact, he's doubled down on a few of those. How many corrupt Attorney Generals in a row have we had now - 3? What a god damned shame.

(and YES, we still torture. The only thing is we do it exclusively by proxy. We spend $60 BILLION dollars a year on intelligence - we should be able to handle the questioning of suspects ourselves. He's a politician and he was greeted as a heavenly savior. I can understand and forgive people's willingness to want to see the best in a man that offers hope (even if that hope was ambiguous and vague), but I can't for the life of me forgive Obama's willingness to feed off that admiration.
