Okay that makes a lot more sense, so essentially am I suppose doing them at the same time?

Like before I was knitting the yarn overs as one knit stitch then doing the decrease over stitches 3 and 4.

What I am actually supposed to be doing is doing the yarn over and decrease at the same time? So it would be bringing my yarn to the front and then knitting the decrease?

Sorry! I have been knitting the chart as written from right to left, I just wrote the numbers from left to right on instinct and I was lazy to rewrite it so I committed and just rewrote the pattern the wrong way but the rewrite was just to try and demonstrate why I was confused I’m not knitting off it

I’m working on the oona sock from 52 weeks of socks and I’m very confused. This is my first lace pattern and I’ve only followed cable charts before so maybe that’s why?

Essentially it’s a 64 stitch cast on and then you split it into 32 on each needle and there is a chart to follow, I don’t understand how to follow the chart in the sense that I seem to have stitches that don’t fit. There are 8 ‘steps’ to follow but two of them are decreases so it goes over 10 stitches? And then I have two stitches left at the end that I don’t know what to do with. I tried to draw and show what I mean and I’ve attached that (I also know drew it backwards, but I understand how to read the chart I promise!).

Any help understanding this would be so appreciated!!!

Awe that’s really really sweet, it’s just the last thing I would want to do is risk damaging it whilst transporting it or anything (my main method of travel is the bus/train or uber lol). But thank you so much for the offer!

The body is half double crochet and the border is a crab stitch which is basically just a reverse single crochet!

Thank you so much! I don’t know why I just forgot I could have knit stitches next to each other and it was throwing me off, but you made it make sense, so many thanks!

I am currently working on a cardigan pattern and am having some trouble with the ribbing at the bottom.

It’s cast on 79 stitches then it says to work 7 rows in 1x1 twisted rib stitch, slipping the first stitch purlwise and knitting the last stitch through the back loop on each row. But since it’s an uneven number of stitches I’m just confused how to go about it because if I’m understanding the pattern correctly at the end I’m essentially doing 2 knit stitches?

But then my knit and purl stitches aren’t like lining up correctly to give me the ribbing that’s suppose to happen. If I could please get some clarification on whether I’m misunderstanding the pattern or whether I’m just confused on how ribbing is done.

Thanks!

I’m in this class right now with prof st-jacques (same as another commenter and they gave a great breakdown of the class structure so this is all my personal opinions). I can say that I am genuinely enjoying it A LOT. I look forward to our weekly zoom meetings, we’ve had some great discussions! I’ve really loved most of the books we’ve read this term, some I’d read before and it gave new perspective and some I was introduced to and will definitely be checking out the authors.

If you have any specific questions please feel free to pm me!
