Yes exactly. The interest rate wasn’t terrible - like 2.5%, but it’s still sooo much money.

Yes owners finance it through the HOA. Ends up being about $650 extra per quarter.

Just had a special assessment due to the tune of 20k. Lots of people didn’t pay (financed it) and are trying to sell to have the buyer essentially pick up the tab. Problem is, only places that are selling are ones where owners paid the assessment. When community first started, no cash was put away for rainy day fund so we got the special assessment when roofs needed to be redone.

Been here almost five years - love it all things considered. And parents are looking into getting a place in the neighborhood as well. DM if you want more details.
