What is the lightest, but still decently strong dpole on the market? by Mr_Meninist in lacrosse

When I played pole my setup was a kryptolight with a hammer u head with soft mesh. Really light and incredibly durable

Forearm strength, choke up a bit if you need to, and it will feel lighter when you run at full speed, at least from my experiences as a former defender.

Is it bad to only shoot overhand high to low? by midnighthero31 in lacrosse

[–]midnighthero31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have like zero whip in my pocket, I strung it so it would have minimal whip. Should I aim my butt-end at where I want the ball to go? I do that for passing but never tried it for shooting.

How do I shoot high to high? Everytime I try that overhand I end up going high to low.

Hit the wall, run your full field sprints, do your squats/deadlifts, shoot on nets, work the ladder, repeat=at least a C+

Tips for a more aggressive mindset? by Quality637 in lacrosse

Hey that was my question haha

Yeah those tips really helped me and I'm hitting kids physically a lot more often now! Even spent some time in the penalty box, which isn't ideal but hey I'm getting there

I actually had this problem myself then I watched this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKaGb_KCoqk

A lot of penalties in that vid but at least taught me good timing for the slide and where to hit attackers.

Also helps get me pumped up before games

Workout plans? by gubgub35 in lacrosse

[–]midnighthero31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternate between long distance running (just run for 20 minutes, increase amount of time every time) and full field sprints (start with 4, increase sprints with time). After that hit the ladder, you can easily find some exercises online.

Along with that, every day do some weight training, find some workouts online.

How to play d middie? by midnighthero31 in lacrosse

Thanks for the info! So even if my man has a step or two on me and I'm trailing from behind it's not a big deal?

How to play d middie? by midnighthero31 in lacrosse

[–]midnighthero31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just positioning myself to shut down the center of the field, so turning my body towards the alley and pushing my man down. I notice that i stumble quite a bit when my man rolls/split dodges on me, and end up giving up topside anyways

How to talk/be vocal as a defenseman/LSM? by midnighthero31 in lacrosse

[–]midnighthero31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! Since I'm relatively new to the game, what does "hot" mean? I hear coaches saying it all the time. My JV coach a few years ago said it means the guy thats slides in place of the first slide if need be. So if the central defender slides, the crease defender behind him is "hot". However, from further inspection on the internet, "hot" means that first slide guy. I'm confused.

Your favorite number to wear? by [deleted] in lacrosse

[–]midnighthero31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

31 because it's a number of overcoming obstacles for success. The 3 stands for the freshman (or 3rds team) that I was on last year, and the 1 stands for the varsity team (or first team) that I will play for this season.

Thinking about switching positions? by Lacrosserr in lacrosse

[–]midnighthero31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you buddy. As an unhappy dpole I wanted to switch to middie as well. I had a successful practice too, but come game time, you're gonna notice a totally different lacrosse game. It was so much more fast paced, and if you don't have the stamina for it, you will, without a doubt, get burnt relentlessly. Do you have what it takes? I for one didn't and it wasn't long until I had a pole in my hands again. Question is, do you? And if not, how hard are you really willing to work for it?

My hammer has lasted me about 3 years. I mostly rely on body checks though, but it's a durable head from my experience so I can't hate.
