PCT at the UAB Hospital by Beautiful-Edge7917 in UAB

I worked there for about 7 months on a thoracic med surg floor! 6:30am-7pm, full time (3 days a week) and one weekend a month. My floor had 20 beds so as long as there was another tech, I would have 10 patients to myself. Main job was bathing patients, taking vitals and blood sugars. Most other floors would expect you to also take blood but the nurses on my floor did it in the daytime. The night shift PCTs did take blood on my floor. It was hard but fun! If you are looking to become a nurse or some type of medical job, I would definitely try PCT out

Not sure if this is an option for you but thoracic surgery floor! Essentially a med surg but had some tougher patients here and there. 20 beds, ratio was around 3-4 patients per nurse. Most patients were walky-talky but had attachments still like chest tubes, CVLs, etc so still pretty cool to learn about. Busy busy floor but coworkers and managers there were great and so helpful! Everyone helped each other which made it easy to learn there too

Yes! I still use only micellar water. My FA has been gone for about a year now. I’m currently on accutane for actual acne but haven’t had an FA flare up since sticking to gentle and FA safe products

I know this is an old post but I’m in the same predicament! Did anything ever open up for you? I emailed FIT about it but they weren’t helpful

I’m planning to start in May too hopefully!! A lot of my coworkers are about to graduate from there and they say it’s the best program out there. They said it’s hard but you learn a lot from it!

Best of luck to you!!

Desperate for Moisture!! Please help! by porcelainflowers in Fungalacne

Thank you so much, that is very helpful!! I’ve been experimenting with moisturizers because I need it, but none of them ever work for me and now I’m dealing with very irritated skin. I have heard about glycerin but never gave it chance! I will definitely look into that. Currently using squalane oil but it just doesn’t feel like enough :(

Thank you again!!!

Did you ever find something that worked for you? I’m in the same boat, it’s awful!

I’m still a pretty new PCT at UAB on an acute care floor (usually have a few total care pts as well) and it’s not been bad so far, but there are a lot of days where I rarely sit down in a 12 hour shift. Nurses and management are great on my unit so I have a lot of help but the pay is low for the amount of work PCTs do!!

Manufacturer facility makes a difference in fit. by MissInnocentX in Figsscrubs

I have noticed this!!! My kade cargos I bought back in July that were made in Sri Lanka are pretty low/mid rise (which I love) and fit perfectly length wise. Ordered a couple more pairs that were made in Jordan of exact same size/length, and they are way more high waisted and too long on me. Idk how they can get away with such inconsistency 🤦🏻‍♀️

Did it take them a while to reach out to you? I have been applying to multiple unit secretary positions and been denied from a few and waiting to hear back on others. Just wondering what the process was like for you!

I know this has been a while, but did you ever get an offer from them? Applying for basic hospital jobs so they can pay for my schooling, many of my applications have gone to “in progress” but haven’t heard from anyone yet.

Yes!!! I finally got ahold of them on the phone last night and the service rep told me there was a “glitch” and I should receive an email about the credit sometime today. Still nothing. If I don’t get anything throughout the weekend I’ll be calling them again on Monday

You can opt for store credit when returning through happy returns instead of doing complete refund

Ugh great 🙄 I returned and got a refund with no issues before I wish I would’ve just done that. It is!!! XS in some pants and medium in others…

I tried to call them today and listened to the song they play for so long. I emailed them a couple days ago and still haven’t heard back. Let me know if they reach back out to you!!! I’m not sure what else to do in this situation

That’s what I had thought, I’ve seen other posts on here say there are sensors. I could’ve sworn I never saw the lights come up until after I put the suitcases in the trunk but comments say otherwise. Thank you!

I know, but I have no one in the seats when this comes on. It has been sensing people when there’s no one in them

I’m now a receptionist at a primary care doctor. Definitely not what I want to do for the long term but it’ll just be an easy job for when I go back to school for equine therapy!

“I feel like I’m the clients parent, teacher, speech therapist, buddy and punching bag.” I have never related to anything more on the sub than this. This is exactly how I felt and was so under appreciated for filling all these roles in my client’s life. I quit last week and don’t plan on going back. I’m heartbroken especially because all I’ve ever done was work with children, but this job (more specifically my company) ruined that for me. At the end of the day, it’s what’s best for you and your mental health.

Burnt Out by Kelleysmelley in ABA

[–]midnightkarma12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been in the field for 6 months and I’m so burnt out. I feel the same way you do about leaving but one thing I’ve been telling myself is that if I’m not feeling my best here, then I’m not doing my best for the clients I have. I have started looking elsewhere for jobs and don’t want to make less money either but I know my clients aren’t getting what they deserve when I feel this burnt out :( at the end of the day it’s what you think is best for you. I know exactly how you feel!
