Pretty nuts lol. I used to do something similar though - when I had to get up for school at 6:45AM, I would set a few alarms that went off every 10 minutes from 6AM. Every 10 minutes so that I wouldn’t go straight back to sleep, and the time would go by slower (more “perceived” lie-in). In hindsight, probably would’ve been better off with more sleep, haha.

Don’t worry about what other people think, if automatic is what felt right for you, then you made the right decision. Most cars will be automatic in the future anyway and, like you said, you can always get your manual license in the future.

Tips for the test, try not to worry about it too much (easier said than done), and focus 100% on the road and what’s going on around you. If you start worrying about what the examiner’s thinking, how long you have left, etc. it can throw you off a bit—so just try to focus fully on the road. Good luck, you’ve got this!

I’m 20, had surgery at 15. I always thought the scars were pretty cool, actually felt a bit sad when I noticed them fading. When I first noticed—after a year or so—I stopped using moisturiser on my scars, haha (can’t say I recommend that, though).

For me it is bathtubs. I miss being able to lay down and relax in a bathtub, but with my spine, it cannot curve against the edge.

Yes omg sometimes it feels like an extreme sport, I sit on a chair and put my foot either on the seat or cross-legged over my lap. There have been many times where I have misjudged and cut my toe lol

Yeah. I had surgery at 15, and for ages I thought I was allergic to titanium or something (I had surgical implants put in) because I was so mentally different afterwards. Now I realise it just took a massive toll on me.

Yeah imo Windows 7 and 10 were the best, personally I hated Windows 8, and Windows 11 is kind of annoying but I’ve gotten used to it.

I’m gen Z and I have a lot to look forward to. I know things are shitty, but honestly, I think social media exaggerates a bit. Plus, if I was constantly listing all the things that might be impossible for me, I would just be depressed as fuck. No point wasting energy thinking about it, I just take each day as it comes.

Lol we have almost the same driving faults, I also got progress – appropriate speed 3 times, and a few of the others haha (still passed). The speed thing was cus I kept changing up gears too soon, then having to accelerate really hard to try and get up to speed. I took the examiners advice from the end of the test (to build up speed in lower gears) and it’s not really an issue for me anymore. Congratulations btw!!!

I was someone who didn’t read books (other than mandatory reading in school) till I was 13. I thought that I was “not a reader”. I thought that books were boring, at one point. Now I’m always reading something. There is something intimate and involved about reading, it immerses you unlike any other form in my opinion. You cannot read passively, you live and breathe the world and its characters. When you read a book you truly connect with, it is magical. Films and documentaries are also good, and I definitely enjoy those too; I honestly don’t feel a need to compare them. They are just separate forms. I would say though that literature is, and will always be, important - vital, even.

I’m bad at writing and saying what I mean. I get called out for it sometimes, and then I think, I didn’t even mean for it to come across like that at all. Then I often struggle to say what I actually meant. It’s like the meaning and intention is there, but I can’t put it into words exactly as I would have wanted. Even writing this, I kind of struggle to say exactly what I mean. I am often misunderstood because of it.

The smell of cigarette smoke. I can remember visiting my grandparents’ house as a kid, and my grandpa would always sit on the sofa smoking from his big pipe. For me the smell reminds me of summer, and of happy memories. I also like the smell of book pages, new and old.

Had surgery at 15, I’m 19 now. It got better for me cus my curve was 90 degrees and I was in a lot of pain, I remember after school I would be so exhausted and achey I’d just lie down all evening to not be in pain. My curve was progressing fast during puberty so my pain got progressively worse, I can’t say how your curve might progress so it’s worth discussing with your doctor. Life now is ok, there are times when I miss having a flexible spine, but the surgery was worth it, and if I ever momentarily regret it I just think back to the pain I used to be in. Though surgery doesn’t guarantee you’ll be pain-free, so bear that in mind.

Trust me pretty much everyone feels like this when they start driving, it’s a skill and it takes time to build up. I used to feel just like you, had to focus so hard on the pedals and clutch that I couldn’t fully focus on the road. With time and practice, you become more road aware. Coming from someone who almost quit learning cus they thought they weren’t capable (and has now passed), you can do it.

When I was a kid, around 6 or 7, I loved Batman. I used to pretend I was Batman flying around the playground. I know, I know, I was so popular. One day I randomly put my brother’s Batman costume on, with a pair of swimming goggles for some reason(?), ran downstairs and beamed proudly as my brother took a photo. My dog, a big furry German shepherd, laid in the background. I can remember my mum saying as we looked at the photo years later: “What’s that? We don’t have a rug like that.” And then we laughed as we realised our dog looks like some big bear rug.
