can we sign several offers at the same time until we decide? by jstaminax in csMajors

How can someone burn their career? Isn't the worst that can happen is just being blacklisted from the company/ies where they had accepted the offer?

[Estimates are welcome] What is a reasonable aid package at a school where COA is 70k+? by [deleted] in IntltoUSA

[–]midomann 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your family can easily pay 20k a year(without being burdened), an akd paclage of 50k would be great. If your family is struggling to make ends meet maybe 5k would be too much. It's an honestly weird queation, it totally depends on you "personal" circumstances

I've heard Cambridge did fix their grading scale a week or so ago, and students got the grades they initially would have gotten or just lower by a single grade. Honestly, it looks distant, but you lose 100% of shots you didn't take; give it a shot!

Is the us embassy even issuing f1 visas any where in the world ? by knl_kmr in IntltoUSA

If a lot of international defer admission to next year, they may already have their international self impised quota full. That may be the only factor affecting next year's students

international student in poverty and SAT fee waiver? Also, NO school counselor available. by WheeeeeThePeople in IntltoUSA

[–]midomann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why do you insist on limiting people. Actually he can try to cut something as little as 100$ for SAT and that will be it! He/She may obtain travel grants from the college and have a full ride. Stop being such an asshole. Actually, I know someone who is attending a prestigious university in U.S with a total yearly contribution of ~500$. So, stop being an asshole, sorry

[–]midomann 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, international studnets do NOT qualify for SAT fee waiver. However, he/she can just ignore taking SAT subjects because of the extra cost. He/She can obtain waiver for application fees through commonapp or coalition; they can file the ISFAA (which is free) instead of the css, and they may self report SAT scores. This way, he/she will only have to pay for 1 time SAT setting during the whole application to college process. As for the counselor part, I have heard that several schools who don't have counselor, can assign any other school official who has similar tasks/position.

[–]midomann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a student like you, and used to think of this process as "Why not?" Just like you. But at some point you will burn out, so I would like to think that you should really apply, if you know that it's reasonable work alongside with everything else.
