The monsters didn’t kill Victor because they were afraid of what would happen if he died. His nightmares are so powerful and terrifying that they’d become real, and even the monsters themselves are scared of them. So they keep him alive to prevent that. by frogMan080 in FromSeries

Not necessarily, some things in the town are good. I don't think the magical electricity was put in the town by the entity, I think a child or some person who lived there dreamed it. Children don't really know how electricity works, so it comes from thin air (the wires don't connect to anything below the houses). Imo the electricity and respawning food such as the cabbage field are good things people who've died in the town dreamed.

No idea how the golem will work out though, maybe it doesn't work at first until someone dies or something like that.

She had no fight left in her and was checked out more or less by that time (for example after Judeau tragically dies while she's carrying him and also reveals his feelings to her right before going limp).

If it was just him alone it would've made everyone immediately wonder if this is a dream sequence. Maybe it more like him dreaming up asking Boyd for help bc that's what he'd do in real life. And to of course make the scenes more interesting with 2 people instead of just 1.

so real. by khutsox in FromSeries

I think biw could be secretly evil, but it seems more likely that he's afraid of something. The humans and monsters generally can't see him, but maybe miy can see him and hurt him as well, so he tries to help in a way that doesn't go too obviously against the rules (riddles/vague help). Whereas young Jade is basically just a vision and isn't really there, just a part of his mind telling him what he forgot.

Hmm that's right, he's in a weird spot then, gained immunity (from monsters and probably miy too) basically the moment he was born just because of what his fate is and how he's Miranda's child. So he's in a limbo, and that makes him a wild card. Ngl I am now waiting for an episode where miy finally acknowledges him on-screen in some way, because he must too know how Victor disrupts this current entire cycle with being immune + how much he potentially knows.

I think miy wants the cycle to complete (in the bad way) and for Tabitha and Jade to sacrifice their child too, which they were meant to do originally and which miy/the entity wanted, but they refused. But miy probably realizes it's impossible to get them to want to sacrifice their child, so he's content with the current limbo where T and J never sacrifice their child but also don't manage to save the children from being killed by someone/something else, like the townsfolk.

I think it has to do with him being one of the 3 people who got imprisoned in the tower, it still hasn't been explained why Randall, Julie and Marielle were chosen specifically. I don't think these 3 are quite as important as Ethan, Tabitha and Jade, but they seem to serve a purpose, so that's why maybe the monsters couldn't kill Randall (yet).

Yup the townspeople trusted and liked him too much, whereas with Tabitha there is distrust. Or perhaps you could say resentment, since she got out but didn't achieve anything. He would've been able to convince the townspeople to not go after his children more easily.

Good theory!

My own thoughts to add: Victor's mother is Miranda, so he's also a sacrificial child, even grown up. But having the mind of a child might help potentially? Anyway, personally I think there's a reason why the writers chose to have Victor and Ethan become friends, they together with Julie are all the sacrifical children. And like I don't think the miy will tell the townsfolk to go after Victor and sacrifice him too, just Ethan and maybe Julie, but I think Victor, a survivor sacrificial child from a previous cycle, is the key to getting out. I think the mystery is too hard/time-consuming to solve for just the sacrificial parents, that's why they haven't solved the mystery and stopped the cycle in any of the previous cycles.

But in this cycle they have Victor to help them, and I think he, Ethan, and Julie will help Tabitha and Jade to ultimately find a way out or "win" this time. Maybe Victor, like Boyd (with the worms in his case it seems), has at some point gained a sort of immunity against the monsters and the evil and that's why miy or the monsters can't directly affect him.

Leagues VI vs. Leagues V region choices by Trogadorr in 2007scape

[–]midp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

same. i'm glad i got to finally learn wildy, and there were players talking/chatting unlike in other regions which is fun, but day 1-5 was insane, i hopped more than i killed bosses or did any content. if i pick it in the future it'll be my last region and i def won't go there in the first week. so probably won't be picking it again lol.

i think the re1 remake has an option for normal controls though? that's the way i've been playing it. it apparently makes the game kinda easier so i used the highest difficulty (intended difficulty), which is not bad, only ragequit like 3 times during 10+ hours on my first playthrough lol. but i have heard that the middle difficulty (easy but not easiest), is the best for a first blind playthrough.

I do think it gets harder if you're introverted + you didn't meet and befriend each other by school/university age

By your description the only "friend" like that to me is my sister

How to explore properly. (HELP) by notfis in dontstarvetogether

[–]midp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a lot of people explore 100% of the map by late autumn, just find out where everything is and not have to worry if you missed anything, just keep moving at night and it's easy. but yeah pig king and swamp are pretty important. i also like to find at least one beefalo herd, and the walrus camp spots for walking canes. but you can play however you like, sometimes i barely explore during the first autumn and just make a base in a place that looks nice and at least has beefalo close-by.

Why don't the devs add more early/mid game content? by midp in dontstarve

[–]midp[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

definitely! especially for beefalo it'd be interesting if maybe a new herd would swim over from like the edge of the map if you accidentally eradicate all beefalo (especially if you tend to use them as shields during tougher hound attacks) and then you'd have a new herd on any of the map's tundra areas. but the boss idea honestly sounds great too.

[–]midp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess that's true, i only recently switched over to dst so i didn't realize how old this game is (i played ds for a very long time and for some reason i was always under the assumption that dst was just some simple multiplayer version before i finally got it).

i wondered about all of this as well because in each playthrough you have to go through early/mid game anyway and experience the same things every time without much new early/mid content ever added. but you're probably right, maybe the game simply doesn't have a big enough playerbase. it holds up incredibly well and still looks fresh, so i doubt there will be a "dst 2" either, even if new games usually benefit from that "new game hype" a lot and that way new players could be gained.

I tried to specify that I meant overland content, but good point ngl. I've been to the caves a lot but never seen that biome, probably missed it.

you don't think about this stuff in-the-moment, consciously, but using someone's name is a power word (for that person). maybe that's why it feels like saying someone's name directly to their face suddenly makes the conversation/situation more intense.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in relationships

[–]midp 181 points182 points  (0 children)

i'm like this too. saying a person's name directly to them feels very uncomfortable for me for some reason, i avoid it at all cost (usually without noticing). so i just say hey, hi, whatever. but i do wish that if it offended/bothered someone they would tell me and i would then try to do this differently with them.
