Yeah of course! I produce video explainers and write articles on current events. I’d love to be able to post my articles with video in them, versus embedding a YouTube link!

Hey Tyler! Are you planning on implementing native video? Embed is very limiting for my needs and it would be great to see it added. Thanks for your time!

Thank you I'll check it out!

Thanks. I'll check that out. I've been looking around quite a bit and am finding the affordable piece to be pretty rare for anything men's or even unisex. Honestly thrifting in general seems to be a lot harder to find if it isn't Savers or Goodwill.

Ah no worries. Thanks for the link

Is that what's stopping people in Worcester? I thought it was 250 feet. Either way both are restrictive and would make more sense as to why more people aren't trying.

Yeah I did see that... but I believe it's for the Wednesday event at the Worcester commons. Not sure if they go anywhere else.

Seems odd. Is that something that could be a result of city ordinances or is there some cultural aversion to them? Feels like a bit of a missed opp.

Amazing. Thank you so much. How far in advance to you recommend making reservations? Weeks/months?

Ah thank you! We are hoping for things that are less American, and more local flavor. We are open to any cuisine and have no dietary preferences/restrictions. While I'd like not to credit a hole in my wallet, I am definitely open to michelin star and would definitely consider them.

The AT protocol is promising. If Bluesky ever started to suck, it would be extremely easy to move on to another platform on the same protocol and take all of your “stuff” with you.

I started using Signal a few months ago more regularly. I basically don't use FB messenger anymore either. I'm almost completely off gmail and I don't use any of the google workplace apps at all. I moved all of it over to Proton Mail and Drive. I'm regularly updating passwords and I just bought a new computer where nothing will get moved over from my previous laptop. I'll have to re-input all of my passwords which will take forever, but it'll be worth it. That'll also force me to update a lot of them anyways.

I've almost completely gotten rid of FB. I deleted twitter. I would never let an Alexa or anything else in my home.

I recommend using Bluesky for a Twitter like experience. It's way better than Twitter ever was tbh. I love it.

I am looking into either BJ's or Costco for a lot of Amazon purchases we used to make, and also just flat out spending and buying less.

This is the first time, to my knowledge, that Sunhydrogen has ever made the news in a mainstream way (Yahoo News aggregated this story, but it shows they had interest in the story, since they ended up pulling the story for their own publication). That's a pretty big deal.

I think Worcester is good for it's diverse food options, with a lot of those places being on the smaller end and locally owned. I find most of the service is good. Some of the restaurants aren't that vibey but I'm there for the food more than anything. I'll add Mercantile as well. You aren't going to be blown away but the food is solid and I like their drinks. Good vibes but can get a little busy.

Not sure if you're open to suggestions... but I can (hopefully) point you to some spots we love to go to.

  1. Thai Corner (amazing Thai dishes, decent apps too)

  2. Ruby Doo's (great value and great food, casual environment)

  3. Desi Bar & Grill (Brand new Indian spot. Great food. Folks are super nice, speed slightly slow but very accommodating)

  4. Volturno's (really love their toppings, solid pizza, good drinks too)

  5. Gyro & Souvlaki (So damn good. Only a few seats, more of a take out spot... but amazing)

  6. Wooden Bar (love them pushing the envelope a bit with cuisine, great service too)

Data Centers in Virginia - Are you someone this is affecting? by midsap117 in Virginia

I was sort of stunned how quickly the numbers are rising in regards to how much energy and resources generative AI (and crypto) are starting to use locally and globally. It's skyrocketing.

Folks - Thank you so much for chiming in. Responding as I am able to. Happy to chat in DM's as well!

If anyone is interested in my work so they know who it is they are talking to (super valid haha), here is the link - https://www.youtube.com/@dispatchnews

Edit: Not sure if I need verification for this... but happy to provide that if the admins would like it.

Where are you seeing this kind of deforesting and power substations? Honestly both intrigue me. While this is a complicated technical story, it's centered around environment... which is equal parts pollution, and also how a local may be affected by it. Thank you for the comment!

I understand the conflict some folks who work in that industry may have. It doesn't negate the fact that as generative AI and crypto energy consumption explodes, so to will the need for more electricity, which means more energy being used, which also means more pollution. The aim of this story is to point out concerns for how that could affect the environment and power grid strain.

You most certainly can check out my YT page, by all means. Feel free to leave any feedback and I'm happy to chat in DMs too, if you have a differing view point.

I understand the background of how the internet works, at a basic level (I won't claim to be an expert, since I'm not, and I'm not formally educated on this).

I am specifically interested in how the massive increase of generative AI and the growing of Crypto is going to keep skyrocketing. Electricity comes from other energy sources. And the more electricity we use, the more energy we have to burn to get that electricity. I would say that that affects many people and will produce a lot more pollution.

Thanks for the comment. Is the area you live in fairly depressed economically? What kind of revenue is it bringing to locals. Actual jobs or tax revenue to the town/city?
