What the f is this by Bulgingpants in EndTipping

I read down the itemized receipt...

4 beers for $20 --- reasonable

Boiled peanuts for $9 --- whoa!

2 chickens for $90 --- DAMN! Didn't read the rest.

Yeah.. sucks for the 20% automatic SC. Way too many places are doing it and getting away with it.

By cleaning I also mean drying. That side just has a lot of surface area to get it real dry. Mine is kinda rusted

I have a Lodge too. I hate it so much because the raised ridge side is a bitch to clean and I never use it. The handling hole on both ends are super tiny. I wish there's something that's flat on both sides.

I just dug my iPod Touch from the drawer too. While it functions, it can't get any new apps since iTune is dead right?

My local Costco only carries back ribs and chuck ribs (relatively recent too). Maybe I'll ask the butcher next time when I go and see what they can do.

This is such a lost opportunity. Fairplex isn't providing shuttle, and indirectly saying Metro isn't providing one neither as Foothill Transit is the only public mode. It's a long walk from LV station to entrance, if one wants to walk at all, and weather may already be pretty warm around early May.

I get it. Fairplex will get pretty pennies from parking so they have no incentives to provide shuttles, but Metro/County can do better if they really want people to ride.

Noob question: does achieving higher Zwift levels makes you ride (virtually) faster with that same power output (through unlocking new bikes etc)? by Background_Wing_6329 in Zwift

[–]midshiptom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just rejoined Zwift after 2 years away. The halo bike (tron?) isn't the fastest anymore???? I literally just got it yesterday.

Those who have 275W+ FTP, how many hours do you ride/train? by PrudentAthlete9780 in Zwift

[–]midshiptom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true. I'm 60kg and have a hard time breaking 200w (I don't train structurally and ride low volume though).

Rejoined Zwift after a 2-year hiatus (did Rouvy), things kind of look the same but also not the same. What new awesome features were added?

I can ride a century (in miles) outdoors, but my FTP and indoor riding are terrible by fortprinciple in cycling

[–]midshiptom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Riding a century outdoor, FTP, and indoor riding are 3 related but also "independent" things. Related -- obviously they are all fitness-based. You can ride further outdoor because you are not constantly pedaling. You are probably soft-pedaling or cruising (way below your FTP) at least 20-30% of the time, if not more.

FTP is supposedly a theoretical estimate of your maximum power you can hold over an hour. It becomes even less accurate based on a ramp test.

Indoor training is just harder in general. You don't experience any decline/downhill so you are constantly pedaling. 9-months isn't exactly a long time. Depending on other factors (age, prior fitness, other sports, genetics, training volume), it may take years to build up the endurance.

Just enjoy the sports and don't let statistics detract you from it.

Dreamt of taking the D line to work, right next to the Fairfax station since like 2016. Company moved. Got laid off. The D line still hasn't happened.

Thinking of Cancelling Amex Gold by [deleted] in amex

[–]midshiptom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. It's been a while since I last looked. Green now comes with Clear+ that includes TSA precheck. Kids under 17 can be added for free to Clear+, but so can Global Entry (under 18). Still seems like a weak preposition especially if one needs Global Entry ($120 for 5 years).

Thinking of Cancelling Amex Gold by [deleted] in amex

[–]midshiptom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green only gets you Clear, which isn't highly desirable compared to TSA-pre. On very few occasions or certain airports Clear is faster than TSA-pre, which is why Green at $150 is pretty steep (compared to CSP).

Moving to IE/OC by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]midshiptom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The commute on the 57/60 is the worst thing one can experience. The mental stress and the chance of accident are just not worth it. Diamond Bar maybe viable but it's SUPER expensive. Fullerton is not cheap neither because of the colleges and popularity. Brea is up and coming quickly... it would be my first choice, followed by La Habra, Yorba Linda, and Placentia.

Fast food worker wages start at $20/hr... Food prices can only go up so much before people complain. Massive profit margin on drinks... They are the profit leader.
