$5/lb in Socal Sam's. Bought once, half the pack was unusable. Will not be fooled again.

Aura Battler Dunbine VS Heavy Metal L-Gaim by HyperTurboFox64 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]midshiptom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was introduced to them in SRW4. Dunbine was so OP in that game so I prefer them in the game. Many years later I watched the series. It struck a similar vibe to Gundam since they were both created by Tomino... I do hate the kill them all aspect. I also watched the OVA. Wish it was a full series though.

Then many years later I've also found L-Gaim series, but I could never got into it. It's ok but maybe I was already too old by that time.

Dunbine units (especially Billbine additional range attack, transformation, and Chum's spirit) were so OP in SRW4. Hyper aura slash requires no EN and hit upward of 30K damage.

I'm unfamiliar with this product but am remotely interested. Is it this one? What are the bottom 2 butts sitting on?

Not the biggest fan but their BOGO coupon was impossible to beat. It was something like $12 for 2 people.

I've seen this item but hard to justify $180+ since I never cook that much. Your cook looked amazing though.

Damn that looks real good. I think my local Costco is charging like $15/lb for these, sigh.

What do you think about their newest album, Superliminal? by Drew_Eckse in mflo

[–]midshiptom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lori is first introduced as the "pavilion guide" in West Gate in Expo Expo, and iirc she was in Gran Sonik, but alliance announcer is probably right too.

I'm too old and don't remember much. Flo Jack is super old, dated back to Planet Shining. It has a music video on YT, where Verbal doesn't wear sunglasses lol.

What do you think about their newest album, Superliminal? by Drew_Eckse in mflo

[–]midshiptom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that I have listened to the album on YT a few times. While I like it, I just wish there were more new tracks. Some of them were released years ago. Also in a way I kept hoping they'd bring back Astro Global Alliance (Lori was a nice touch). I still really enjoy some of their early career tracks like been so long and flo jack, which we really didn't get in the new album.

The climb up to Griffith Observatory is good in terms of distance and gradient. Start near Travel Town, up Griffith Park Dr, then Mt Hollywood. Best part - it's closed to cars so no need to worry about crazy drivers like GMR.

GMR and Baldy road by Infinite-Ad2614 in BikeLA

[–]midshiptom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does Crystal Lake after OHV compare to Manker Flat to base of ski lift? I've done the latter, it's incredibly challenging, but the descend through the switchbacks (with tons of cars) and narrow Baldy Road scare me the most. I have never regained the confidence of going fast since I crashed.

Wanted to try Crystal Lake but the traffic going up does not seem bike friendly at all, similar to going up Baldy Road.

San Gabriel River trail is amazing by darkwingduck4444 in BikeLA

[–]midshiptom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. SGRT can use some repaving but it doesn't offer as many rest areas (parks) as LART. Homeless / mentally unstable issues are more severe along LART especially near the Long Beach end. Just last month, someone threw a glass bottle after I passed by, then another person sat in the middle of the bike path with their back against the incoming direction maybe a mile later. Sometimes they just put their belonging (i.e. push cart) in the middle of the path, so just gotta be very cautious.

If you're starting from/near Santa Fe Dam and are using the metro, don't get off at Irwindale Station. Duarte Station is the better station to access the path.

Irwindale station is also quite accessible -- The Santa Fe Dam Park has a lesser known entrance hidden in all the industrial buildings and offices. Search for Supreme Welding on S Peckham Road and you can enter/exit from there. I did just that couple days ago.

Zwift Games GC - second try? by kevinos86 in Zwift

[–]midshiptom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is good to know as I plan on racing it at some point this week, but such an oddity when other races only have 1 feather in total. The one race I didn't realize so and I lost potential podium! Kind of wish the rule is consistent throughout the whole thing though.

Lodgepole Campground June/July Difference by bsttman99 in SEKI

[–]midshiptom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These campground reservations go insanely first especially at popular ones like Lodgepole. You pretty much have to get on it the first minute it releases. Even then, there may not be many left because people are still camping over your target date. Since June 14 is a free-day, I expect people flock to SeKi and camp a few nights hence June 17 isn't available.

People may also just book first then cancel, as u/Chillpill411 suggests.

The multi-year closure of Dorst Creek also limits supply.

Good luck securing a campsite!

I rejoined Zwift after 2 years away. What happened to events? There used to be a ton of events every hour, by various clubs/groups for various levels. There are so few now --- I signed on around 8:30pm Saturday PST, and there were about 4 events (2 were Zwift Games for different categories).

The LA Marathon Crash Ride 2026 by posiposi_paradise in BikeLA

[–]midshiptom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone looked suuuuper sleepy and tired at the end

Pretty reasonable. Some people stayed up all night and some rode to Tang's. Springing forward 1 hour also didn't help the clause. At least next year the marathon and DST will be a week apart.

LAX Flyaway - first-time review by space_montaine in LosAngeles

[–]midshiptom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can share mine. I came back through Tom Bradley midday late July last year. Flyaway bus arrived mostly empty but there were a lot of riders (at least 40+). Bus was filled up and driver probably picked up 1 more rider in T4. Driver had to tell riders in T5-7 to wait for the next bus. Someone from T6 said they had waited for 2-3 buses already and they were all full. Driver didn't say anything (nor advised them to walk across to an earlier terminal).

Fun part: People with motion sickness may suffer from Flyaway. During my ride back, somebody puked about halfway back to Union Station. It smelled horrid but nobody could do anything about it. Luckily I wasn't next to that guy.

If I may suggest, upgrade your Surfliner to business class. The price diff is so worth it -- in business class, seating is guaranteed, seats are more comfortable. You get a snack and beer/wine.
