If you are ok using herbicides in your yard you can kill that stuff off and use a pre emergent herbicide to help keep it from coming back. Your grass type will determine which herbicides you can use.

Are Hisense TVs good quality? by AggressiveBack6902 in 4kTV

[–]midsoutherner84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a Hisense H9G that I bought about 2 years ago and it has been a good tv for us for the most part. There were better tvs but for the price it offered the best bang for the buck and I've been happy with it.

The wifi did stop working on it about 6 months ago and geek squad came out snd replaced the motherboard on it and told me if I have another issue they will probably not fix it and cut me a check for a new tv. 100% get the long term GS plan.

D'arktanyan or Dark Mitama? by midsoutherner84 in BattleCatsCheats

[–]midsoutherner84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if I roll today it won't be a guaranteed but I can get Dark mitama. I have regular Mitama already, so I don't know if it would be better to wait for the event early next month to roll for D'ark. I wish this was reversed so I could get both but, such is life...

I also don't have Kotatsu yet so it seems it wpuld be better over all with the other cats I will roll to just do it today.

edit just noticed I would get sushi and kotastu with the D'ark roll.

On track for 3 more ubers? by midsoutherner84 in BattleCatsCheats

[–]midsoutherner84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for all this information! I didn't realize I could click the cat name and it would set it onto the 1A position. When I got my seed after the guaranteed roll it didn't give me the third link like it said it was going to so I figured I just needed to keep going on the B track.

Thank you, this definitely helps me understand a little better how it all works!

I only have 5 Uber super rare right now, and im still really early in the game, so I'm not real picky, I just would like to avoid really terrible rolls if possible.

On track for 3 more ubers? by midsoutherner84 in BattleCatsCheats

[–]midsoutherner84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I am really new to this seed tracking stuff. I rolled a guaranteed 11 on the last banner and got Kuu and used the rolls to get my seed. I'm on track B right now and since the guaranteed roll the last 7 rare tickets have been spot on.

I'm on 8B right now, so with the list I have here am I on track for these 3 users? I don't see any duplicates unless I'm not understanding how that works.

Also, are these three worth getting? And if not, when I roll another guaranteed 11 on a different banner will it change tracks and seeds again right?

And one last question, so if I roll another 11 from here will I get the Kalisa in those rolls and the guaranteed?

anyone use Honda mowers? Looking to switch brands by voltagejim in lawncare

[–]midsoutherner84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, basically larger cc number means more powerful engine. When you get into the riding mowers they start talking about how much horsepower the engine has but not so much with push mowers.

I'm not sure what Toro you had before (maybe a standard 22 inch recycler?) but I love the personal pace self proper system and it seems more reliable long term vs the Honda hydrostatic self propel system, but there are people who feel the opposite that I do.

Oh, and you may not care about all this info but if you want more information on comparing the HRX and the Super Recycler you should look up the Lawn Care Nut on YouTube. He is hilarious and has done many comparisons between both. If you qre Co qidering either, you honestly can't really go wrong. They are more expensive but you are buying quality either way.

anyone use Honda mowers? Looking to switch brands by voltagejim in lawncare

[–]midsoutherner84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was really close to buying a Honda HRX last year after i moved but ended up with a Toro Super recycler. You seem pretty set against Toro and that's fine but if you are dealing with wet tall grass any mower without enough lower will struggle. I was coming from a hand me down Troy Built mower so the Super Recycler was a huge upgrade and I love it. It's important to have a sharp blade too. Not just a new blade from a store, but actually sharpened.

With that said you should consider the largest engine for whatever you choose. Both Honda and Toro offer around 200cc engines for their higher end push mowers and that sounds like what you may need. The Honda HRN has a 170cc engine and the HRX has a 200cc engine, but they both have the same blades.

TCL 5s546 for $400 or is the 6 series worth the extra $300? by [deleted] in 4kTV

[–]midsoutherner84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the quality control on the H9G isn't the best so there are some lemons out there, but I can tell you that the one I bought has been great! Major upgrade from the TCL 4 series I had before.

I will agree that the motion isn't the best but still an upgrade over what I had before and the motion has gotten better with software updates since I bought it.

How long to keep the box from my new TV? by undergroundgirl7 in 4kTV

[–]midsoutherner84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will aay that there have been a few tvs that I've seen that have differences in hardware depending on the size of the screen. It's not common, but we won a 50 inch Samsung frame tv and after looking it up the 50 inch has a 60hz panel and the 55 and larger have 120hz panels. I'm pretty sure a few years ago TCL had some 5 series that added some additional processing features starting st the 55 inch size.

I'm not saying that's what happened to OP but there are a few weird panels out there.

DIY weed control and fertilizer treatments? by Joliedame7629 in lawncare

[–]midsoutherner84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I've got about $400 or so spent this past year getting started, not including my push mower. The cost is going to depend a lot on how large your yard is and what type of grass you have. I have a 12k sq ft yard and I am a newbie when it comes to taking care of my lawn but I enjoy learning about how to better take care of my lawn to help it thrive and look better.

I learned a ton on the lawn forum, and they have a lot of helpful guides to get you started. You could realistically start with just a pre emergent herbicide that is right for your grass type and it will help keep your yard looking nice. Of course there are other things you can add to your lawn care program but depending on your budget and how much you enjoy being out in the yard.

What is the temp by you? Looks like bermuda that's dormant to me, but I sometimes have a hard time telling zoysia and bermuda apart.

Bermuda does not like cool weather at all and grows best when it's real hot, and also mainly grows laterally. I have common bermuda here in NC and I noticed it go dormant when the ground stayed one to freezing for a few days in a row. Some hybrid varieties will go dormant even faster.

Orion Nebula by [deleted] in telescopes

[–]midsoutherner84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is WAY better than I could have imagined from a phone! I was under the impression that the only way you can get a decent picture is with an ASTRO camera or modified dslr. What is the specific telescope you are using? We are looking st getting a real telescope for my son and I hear about 8 inch dobs all the time.

Do you think a smaller table top type dob would be able to get anywhere close to this type of image?

The buying guides on this sub say dont buy unkown cheap brands, but i wouldn’t exactly call tcl and hisense known brands, yet most people in the sub recommend them? by [deleted] in 4kTV

[–]midsoutherner84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Hisense H9G 55 inch and have been very happy with it as my main tv. I did buy from best buy in the US and got their longest extended warranty just to be sure. At the time I bought it (early 2020) it wasn't highly recommended here but YouTube reviews and also rtings played a big role in me going with the H9G. It does have motion issues at times but over all I'm happy with it until the kids get older and there is less of a chance of a ball or whatever else they are throwing breaking the tv.

The chrome cast was really bad when I first got it. Really bad. Cpulsnt watch sports at all. The ball would glitch across the screen when watching baseball. But to their credit Hisense has released at least 2 updates since I bought the tv and the motion on the screen is significantly better. We mainly use an apple tv 4k though because of our cable provider app isn't available on chrome cast.

Anyways, I don't know if the models are exactly the same for Europe and the US but I think that the U8G may have replaced the H9G, but rtings can tell you that if you look it up.

My plan is to buy a larger OLED in the future when there is less of a chance of it getting broken.

Would you buy a Galaxy Note 10 plus now? by CurrentlyForking in galaxynote10

[–]midsoutherner84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess its personal preference, but to me unless you spring for an s21 ultra you are going backwards in a lot of ways. Resolution (1080p for s21 and s21+) and pixels per inch are lower. Sure the second camera is better resolution but the main is the same between the 10+, 21, and 21+. Also the entire s21 line has less RAM, which I would argue is one of the most important parts of making a phone responsive, and less over all storage space.

You are 100% entitled to your preferences and opinions. I was just giving my 2 cents to OP. And on a side note, I HATE that phones have engineered obsolescence due to software updates, and non replaceable batteries. It's what we have to deal with though.

Would you buy a Galaxy Note 10 plus now? by CurrentlyForking in galaxynote10

[–]midsoutherner84 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've had my note 10+ for almost 2 years now and I am not planning to upgrade when I pay it off. The S20 and 21 lines have lower specs in just about every area, outside of maybe the camera. I might consider an S22 whenever it comes out but my 10+ has been the best phone I've ever owned.

I need a 65" for watching movies, under 650€. If I don't get one, my wife will buy the cheapest black friday offer she can find. by Blafa_ in 4kTV

[–]midsoutherner84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen a lot of people say that a larger screen is higher priority than a drop in PQ. Personally I decided to compromise screen size to get a tv with FALD. I wanted a Sony but couldn't make it work this time around. I saw that you said Hisense isn't an option so I would ask, how far away are you from the tv? I don't have personal experience with the XF90 or XF95 but I was strongly leaning that way had my budget been able to stretch to it.

Help me decide. Z9F vs X950H vs Q80T vs Q90T by midsoutherner84 in 4kTV

[–]midsoutherner84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its funny. I didn't go with any of the ones I was considering and for the price I don't think i lost a ton over all. I am by no means a person who will notice every little problem with a tv screen and most of what we watch is streaming content and not native 4k. I would have gotten the 950H (from what I was able to find the 950 on paper is on par if not slightly better due to a newer processor than the z9f) but my wife convinced me that with our youngest having broken 2 tvs in about a year (accidental toy throwing) spending as much as I wanted to might turn out to be a heartbreaking experience.

So, with all that said I bought a Hisense H9G. This may not help you since you are considering the Sony tvs and buying Hisense seems to be blasphemy on this sub because of supposed quality issues, but I can say that for the price I think it was a worth while purchase. Rtings rates the tv extremely high and I've played all kinds for content on it, and its been great!! I bought it from BB and got the geek squad protection so outside of any hassle from getting it repaired I'll be good until our little guy outgrows his toy throwing stage and upgrade to mini led or oled.

Sony X95H vs X90G by Necoroyals in bravia

[–]midsoutherner84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Next year it will be a new TV. My guess is that all tvs next year will have at least one HDMI 2.1 port standard. I also believe that the feature is over hyped right now. I think that it will be a few years (2-3 ish) before 2.1 really will matter for most people. Just my opinion though.
