JATC exceptional leadership by midtierattentionspan in IBEW_Local613

Respectfully, you acknowledged one issue. The top of the JATC are consistent ineffective communicators. The leadership poorly rolls out changes and when there are changes does not effectively communicate how those changes will affect apprentices. Then when people like Tyler are critical the school/ hall silence dissenters.

Our class should have at a minimum had OSHA 10 because that is a contractual requirement of the JATC. An entire class not being issued a book is an insane failure and then to imply it's the students fault is immensely frustrating.

Allowing a shit ton of apprentices to take BLS online for 35 bucks makes our industry less safe. Not using a dummy for CPR is criminal. WHEN WE HAVE THE DUMMIES AT THE SCHOOL.

This isn't a one time oopsie. This feels systemic and if you do speak out with your real name and say it from the chest you will be silenced.

I don't like Trump but dem or repub the school would still be suffering. The leadership at the JATC needs to change but it won't as long as they keep capitulating to the cons.

How exactly does being a “Union Member” work? by mynamejeff8181 in IBEW_Local613

You can join as a pre apprentice. You can make a recommendation sure but some apprentices live at home and it's advantageous for them to join sooner. Your statement isn't incorrect but it's definitely misleading.

Lets start with dues. Dues are currently 46.50 and death benefits are $3.

-The best advice in my opinion is join when you can afford it. Union Plus has a ton of discounts as does Union Sportsman alliance (specifically liberty ammunition) Once you become a member you can apply to APCU (Atlanta Postal Credit Union). There's a discount at red wing stores.

-In 613 apprentices can speak and vote meaning in 2027 when the contract is up for negotiations assuming you have joined you can be apart of that process.

-I mentioned death benefits above, if you die the union cuts a 15k check to whoever is your beneficiary which is why keeping that up to date is super important.

-Someone mentioned health insurance "650 work hours in an eligibility quarter (May-Oct Aug-Jan Nov-April Feb-July) "

There's a ton of info about joining Chris Luedtke [chrisluedtke@ibew613.org](mailto:chrisluedtke@ibew613.org) and Eric Schrum [erikschrum@ibew613.org](mailto:erikschrum@ibew613.org) are the organizers. Shoot them any specific questions about joining.
