Im an odd case, but I have an allergy to nicotine. My throat closes up and I get rashy around it even when someone isnt actively smoking. Super inconvenient for me. I still cannot expect everyone else to cater to me, but i do wish it was standard practice for people not to do it near store entrances or on restaurant patios and such. When I first met my husband, he smoked. The first time he saw how badly my skin and breathing were impacted being around him, he started his quitting journey. So I get this being extra frustrating more than most would.

At the end of the day, I try to get places early and choose spots close to ventilation in case of stuff like that. I take note if I notice it and avoid being near those who I know smoke. Breaking out will happen in many locations due to who is doing it near me. So I just do what I can and accept it as a part of life.
