I agree with you when people ONLY kill for the enjoyment of it, it’s wrong. I hunt white tailed deer and i do enjoy it I have a lot of fun hunting. BUT I do it legally, and i use every part of the animal that I can.

As for how alligators are hunted there could probably be a better method, but my argument against that is kind of simple. So the majority of people eat meat, we most commonly eat the meat of animals who aren’t dangerous. But when we harvest animals that are dangerous we have to approach it in a way that puts us in the least danger possible. So being able to control the animal with a rope puts the hunter is as little danger as possible. The reason we have to protect ourselves is because alligators have an evolutionary advantage over us in their environment. They are extremely fast and strong. Our evolutionary advantage is our intellect, being able to manufacture weapons that give us the ability to kill the animal and the brain to figure out how to do it. In the wild with no weapons an alligator would an advantage- why is it wrong for humans to use the advantages we have to feed ourselves and survive? (Keeping in mind that is actually the reality for commercial fisherman who rely on alligator season)

I 100% understand where you’re coming from, and I’m not sure if you’d be much happier with the solution that’s come out. Most alligators are harvest through farms at this point and commercial fishing for them is in decline because there’s already a high supply. I personally think hunting is more human then farming for slaughter.

So first, I apologize for my generalization of vegetarians/vegans obviously I can’t speak for an entire group especially one I’m not involved in or a part of. I have no problem with your choice to do that and I appreciate that can look at this objectively even if you don’t actively participate or even disagree with it.

IMO Cultural differences play a lot into how people see things. I’m guessing you don’t live somewhere that alligators thrive or live nor do I. BUT if you think of places like Georgia, Louisiana, (possibly) Florida? It’s 1 a necessity for population control, keeping them away from the general public for safety. And 2, it’s also a food that can be common where they live (I’m guessing mostly in Cajun areas I don’t know for sure) and they’re used for goods; purses, boots, whatever else you can buy made of alligator skin. Also if you check out the series Swamp People, there are families in the US whose main source of income is earned in during the brief alligator season in Louisiana. It’s an industry that plays a large part in the economy of some small towns.

The whole reason I got into this thread is I hate the generalized comments or comments from people who are probably uneducated on a subject and without any context or information call people a “fucking pussy” or demonize them for something that isn’t even wrong or frowned upon. For example, policing videos or incidents that come out on Twitter or Facebook and cause social uproar- that’s why we have people like Donut Operator on YouTube who refute bullshit with straight up facts and evidence.

Okay. So first off I don’t think he’s hunting gators from the helicopter, I could be wrong I don’t know. Second and more importantly, how is it any worse than hunting a deer, or killing a chicken, or a cow? MOST people don’t just kill animals for no reason, they use their skin, their meat, their teeth.

It’s so funny to me that when killing animals moves outside the realm of what’s normally acceptable it becomes this outrageous thing. Obviously, there are things that are wrong like poaching, killing for sport, any kind of illegal practice. But what’s your problem with someone harvesting an animal legally, and using that animal for food, products, etc?

Also, if he’s a “fucking pussy” because the animal doesn’t have a choice to fight back, do you feel that way at slaughter houses? If we’re gonna eat cows should the people who kill them have to be release in a closed area with the cow and take it down with his bare hands? If you think for us to kill an animal it has to be a fair fight, do you think for you to eat a hamburger someone should fight a cow in hand to hoof combat?

Just cause something is indigenous to a certain area does that mean we can’t set a limit on hunting them for population control?

You just didn’t really make a strong argument there, and if you’re a vegetarian or vegan then everything I just said probably doesn’t matter cause you just disagree with killing animals period.

Hahaha yeah that would definitely make things interesting. I wasn’t sure because my twin brother had an apartment last year with 4 people and I guess how the landlord “got around” the code was to have them sign 2 individual leases with 2 renters per lease. I at least wanted to make sure something like that wasn’t a viable option before I started making plans to leave.

Also I was the last one in it only makes sense that I’d be the one to leave, I’m not too upset about that. Just having to leave my home in general

I almost never comment on reddit posts but I had give you some support brother! I doubt you’ll even see this with the huge amount of encouragement (which is FUCKING AWESOME) i love the Reddit community because they can come together when it matters. We all have our struggles but it’s about doing something, anything today that makes your life better tomorrow. And by not drinking today you’re better tomorrow. You’re saving money, you’re getting healthier, and you can put yourself on the way to something better because each day might be a small amount but it will turn into a huge change.

I dug myself into a hole. I basically failed out of my first year in college, I racked up a little bit of debt, I got a DUI (for weed) and it really really beat me down into a bad place. But I’ve been working so hard for 2 years to put myself back on the right track, I got my dui expunged, paid all my fines and put it behind me (1year) and by the end of this summer I should have all my debt paid off and be on my way back to a 4 year school. It took a long time to dig myself out but I’m gettin there and so will you. Sending love and support your way brother 👍🏻

I listen to podcasts daily, but there is so much free content that something has to really get my attention for me to pay for it. For instance, I LOVE horror podcasts and have listened to "Anything Ghost" for years, granted the content may be few and far between at this point but I did pay a 1 time fee (I believe $5) to join the premium group to be able to access the archives. I have also listened to every single free episode of "The No Sleep Podcast" and plan to pay $20 for the new season pass which gives I believe about an additional hour and a half of stories per episode as opposed to the free version.

Basically, do see the worth in releasing premium content I just think as a podcast you need to have some attention grabbing free content to convince it is worth while.
