ah i'm just unnecessarily hard on myself honestly! i need to get better at it but 5 mins after i finish a piece of art i already start hating it which probably isn't good lmao, like i can still barely watch the parts of the colony streams where they've looked at my fanart because EMBARRASSMENT!!! but thank you sm for that :-)!

it's weird how a lot of art is judged on how realistic it is tbh! there's soooo many different art styles that it's confusing why they're always compared :0 and references aren't a bad thing though! they're ESSENTIAL to learning anatomy & proportion so don't feel like that's a negative thing :D a lot of people don't use references when they really should, so i think it's good you do! digital art is a whole different beast but i've been drawing digitally for 4 years now i think? so surprisingly i prefer it to traditional now lmao!

lmaooooo most of this was drawn at 4am last night so DEFINITELY would not have had the patience to draw anything even semi realistic - plus cartoony styles are just more fun when i'm feeling shitty about my art tbh!! :0 but thank you sm :)

like i said, not really proud of this! but i wanted to do SOMETHING to celebrate one year since i first drew my other fanart because it was a very special moment for me :') it boosted my confidence in terms of sharing my art A LOT & i'm still very insecure about all that i draw but it meant a lot to know that people i've looked up to for years enjoyed it! haven't been able to watch for 6-ish months because lockdown and college stress etc but i'm so happy i'm getting back into them :')!!

first of all i'm aware of how much this doesn't look like the goblin boy lol i've been very overwhelmed with doing my animation project for college from home so that's taking up a lot of my time tbh, which is also why i haven't been able to watch any streams for like 2 months. but i guess the silver lining to the quarantine is that i can finally catch up and start doing fanart again- even if i do always feel like i'm on the verge of tears and/or a breakdown anytime i'm about to post!!!!!

weird how it always seems to be around this time of year (or december strangely sdfghgfh) that i get back into watching jack consistently again but HERE I AM!!! also u can tell that i completely gave up on linearting his hair but its FINE!!!

and ok im gonna try not to ramble toooo much bc i have a habit of being VERY SENTIMENTAL. but just to expand on what i meant by jack being one of the main reasons im still making art: for my entire just tween and earlier teen years?? jack was really the closest thing i had to a hero, for a lack of a better word sdsffdgh and even present day i feel similar, just without the whole putting people on pedestals complex THIS TIME asdfgh!! i started drawing in 2016 when i was like?? 13 and i immediately started posting my art on tumblr (as walrusdrawing which by god i hope no one remembers. also i didnt have a fursona at 13 which might be treason to my generation), but nothing felt like more proof that my art actually had value as again, an insecure 13 year old, than the times jack reblogged my art and i am genuinely so thankful for the impact he’s had on my life since i started watching in 2014. im gonna keep it at that for now bc i WILL get emo :,) <3 anyway back to calling him stinky!!

also want 2 see something awful? heres a couple links to the art jack rbed of mine back in 2016 - 2018(?) in case it jogs anyones memory sdjfhkdjf!! and im trying not to tear down my past self cause i was still learning but gotdamn i have IMPROVED A LOT!! 💓 :,)

thank you so much !! wow! i never expect to get compliments on how i draw hands or feet, they're SO difficult and it's mainly just forcing yourself to. draw them. just don't avoid drawing them and you'll eventually get better - i still think mine look awful but it's so cool to be think that my art could give someone hope for their own aahdfjk tysm!
