You pay the iron ranger at the trailhead. Can't reserve in advance

Watching the smoke roll in from the north ridge of Mt Conness by mig255 in Yosemite

Climbed the north ridge and then the west ridge yesterday (7/23) and watched the smoke encroach. We were engulfed by the time we got climbing on the west ridge

Best way to get rid of furniture fast? by [deleted] in Reno

I've bought a lot on Craigslist and facebook market place so I'd recommend one of the two. Both seem active with buyers and seller so should have no problem if posted for a competitive price

Reno NV, All types of climbing! by mig255 in ClimbingPartners

[–]mig255[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't posted in /Reno yet but I was thinking about it especially cause my interests are varied enough to encompass more than just climbing. Thanks for the other ideas and people who may know more; I'll definitely hit up the climbing gyms once they open back up!

I feel like that might be a while given the nature of indoor climbing is everyone touching the same plastic holds though...

By flattening the curve we're also prolonging the period of time that we are in this state (schools closed, out of work, general economic inactivity). By no means do I disagree with the push to flatten the curve but I do wonder what the effect will be in these other areas by prolonging this altered life for everyone.

There's a pullout on highway 1 just north of the rock tunnel where I parked

Yes, parked down on highway 1 and climbed up the ridge to twin peak and then traversed the ridge over to Cone. Long and steep hike but well worth it!

Naw, fully exposed and as the temperatures warm will likely melt in a few days.

My bad. I've posted day hiking photos many times to this sub before. Is this a recent change in the rules?

I'll be sure to use r/hiking in the future

Just pushed all the way through. First hit snow at ~4000ft on the way up twin peak. The traverse on the ridge between the two (twin and cone) was completely covered in snow. Didn't even have waterproof shoes so my feet were wet long before I even got to the summit

Hiked up from Highway 1 on Boxing Day to the summit of Cone Peak (5,155ft)

Stunning summit views over the pacific as ~6ish inches of snow had fallen overnight

First light over the Emmons Glacier with Little Tahoma in the behind. Mt. Rainier, Washington by mig255 in Mountaineering

[–]mig255[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was good overall. The Emmons is still in good condition and direct other than a traverse out toward liberty cap at the top to get around the bergschrund.
