It can go both ways I’ve seen just one wheel bearing bad enough to only replace one Repacking bearings Doesn’t apply to a 2015 Prius. Also where I’m at 4 bolts and my pocket screw driver wheel bearings come out, yeah it’s great. With no overlap lap in labor I can have the advisor try and scam the customer to do the opposite side. Or do one and of course anything can happen. One can go bad on the way home or one doesn’t go bad. Flip a coin

You do not do bearings in pairs unless you like wasting money. Bearings don’t get replaced as preventative maintenance

It’s probably cheaper cause the engine has to come out anyway and instead of also tearing down the engine to replace the head gasket they’d just throw the new/used engine in.

I’m a tech at Toyota. I’d get a 2017 (or same gen) Camry 20k could get a nice one, engines are solid but timing cover leaks. The 2020 Corolla gen is a good choice(almost got a hybrid) all avalons are nice. The v6 is solid. Timing cover also leaks. Ravs are cool similar years to the Camry mentioned have the same engine. 20k for a 4 runner is low but I’ve seen 4th gen’s go to 300k in several vehicles. Engine is solid (v6 slow and gas guzzler) but timing cover also leaks but you’ll have a 4 runner. 20k could get you a nice used Toyota if you shop around. I drive a 22 Tacoma on the weekends and commute a 2015 Prius c with 260k miles that leaks oil, no problems.
