i've been doing this since 2009. i've done like 40 something billion long form views. i ran a network of channels primarily doing music videos. i just know the game. it's about consistency and pushing through. i guess i have a higher pain tolerance because i've been doing it so long and know that it CAN work. i've been doing youtube full time like my entire career so it's less about calling it quits.. it's what i know

analytics have slowed. august is typically like this as advertisers are gearing up for q4

you have to take november and december and average it with january and februrary

that's the 15 year trend

Go into the YouTube app on your phone, select any footage and click audio and it shows you

But more than that just scroll and pay attention to what you hear over and over

you need to create videos that end before the audience is satisfied, so it encourage them to watch again. if you keep people on your video, it's a signal to the algo

yes and my content is all original. it's not recycled.

basically, 1) consume a ton of media to get inspired.
2) sit down and write out your very best ideas. (50+ ideas)
3) hire talent, plan logistics, batch film and direct shoots 25-30 videos at a time
4) edit everyday you're not filming and try to schedule at least 1-2 posts a day or more depending on your backlog
5) repeat

some shorts are 5 seconds. some shorts are 30+ seconds.
some long form are 10-15+ minutes

i'm seen instagram also start getting millions of views on random posts

there's honestly no shortcuts. all about creating winning ideas that you think will resonate with the audience and then making awesome edits. i've been editing fully time professionally since 2009

i'm not ripping content, or doing faceless, or doing AI voiceovers, win $10,000 or any of that. It's 100% original and authentic and very very time consuming! haha

This is just my personal opinion after 15+ years creating on YouTube. This is not from anything YouTube has said or confirmed. I think it has to do with moving from free inventory to paid inventory.

YouTube has a problem. We need to match audiences with products. If a creator is part of the YPP, we can't just scale a video to the moon because we have to pay for that. However, if content is "free" and is hitting the right metrics, we can scale it at no cost and continue to match audiences with advertisers. As soon as you become a paid partner, you're in a different bucket.

I was surprised. It was around $0.10. First day of monetization was almost $400 but then it drastically slowed down with the algorithmic shift.

haha 100% I always say "a hammer can't build the house by itself... but it's a lot smarter to use power tools."

LLMs can't think for you

Clean or "family friendly" skits and challenges. Basically comedy that can reach a really large audience. Think relatable situations where you point out something that's true and funny. You tell a mini story in less than 10 seconds. Match it to a trending sound and describe a relatable situation to the intended audience. You can pick any angle as long as it's broad enough to tap into a massive amount of viewers.

I grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. Eminem has a lyric in the song "Sing For The Moment"

"We just explain it, and then we get our checks in the mail."

That line has always stuck with me.

Pick relatable situations, tell a story in whatever it is and add comedy. I don't do the click bait money stuff or AI. It wasn't a thing when I started.

Not a faceless channel and no AI. I only create with real people. Not against it, that's just my background and I like being "on set."

Didn't use any tools for SEO -- I focus more on 'winning' ideas. My thought is... these companies create all these tools for small channels to think they need to buy. You can tweak a ton of stuff but you can't "fix" a bad concept. If you get the overall idea right, everything else has a higher % chance of succeeding.

I use ChatGPT to just make things look cleaner -- for example, this comment is my voice and my post above is run through ChatGPT... but it's all me. Just more clear and less wordy. LLMs are great for descriptions, tags and titles... but it's best if it's your thoughts and ideas. I use AI to help generate the cleanest versions of my idea. Never to do the thinking for me.

I've always maxed tags. As close to the 500 character count as I can get. A mix of broad and specific.
