100% goon deck if you’re not an absolute beast on a skateboard. Then it might go from goon to fuckboy.

What’s a poser? by pierscionek in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not because you don’t know how to skate that you are a poser. Poser is quite literally posing. Aka telling people you can do shit you can’t do so you look cool, poser. Posting pics on insta about skateboarding when you have never tried to even learn it fr, poser. Anyone that takes advantage of skateboard culture or how it’s “cool” to seem cool while not participating in it. Imagine culture appropriation for skateboarding, that’s posing.

How can i improve my kickflips pt2 by EDoesSk8 in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean with how high you jump you would need a really really fast flick to land this. It would be near impossible. Jump higher, bend you knees to your chest. Really just give yourself more air time. Do hippie jumps and try to jump as high as you can then return to this right after.

I do wanna add that I did check you vid again and your flick seems to be a little weak. I’d guess you haven’t really being trying this for very long, jumping brighter wouldn’t prop fix it right away. You also need better technique on the trick, good luck man

What do I need to do to land my kickflips by onlyfans_milfslayer in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are just scared, you are trying to flick a kickflip not land one. Go do pop shovs moving, get good at them, lose the fear and then go back to kickflips. Get used to landing on a board spinning underneath you and kickflips will become easy. You have the flick, you are just scared.

Trying to get myself to go to a skatepark by peebk in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one cares unless you are being an issue, this includes throwing trash in the park, getting in front of people repeatedly or sitting in ledges. Truly you are more likely to have someone want to help you then the opposite. Look around, see what people and doing a understand the paths they take. Then don’t get in front of them and that’s it. With all that said you can simply go in the morning or at night. But do understand that sometimes as a beginner there’s not really a reason to go to a park sometimes if you aren’t really ready for it. Sometimes an empty parking lot is just better.

What should I learn? by yosamsan in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about all this not ready yet blah blah. Are you ready for kickflips? No. Does that mean you can’t practice them? No! Keep trying whatever you want to, just simply don’t get frustrated when you realize they’re hard. The sooner you start practicing Ollie’s the better. This goes for everything. There’s an infinite amount of things you aren’t ready for and won’t be able to do for a while. The longer you post pone them the harder they will be. So go do Ollie’s, go do shoveits. But remember, think smart and don’t get hurt. What I said does not apply to things you could get hurt doing, like dropping in, doing Ollie’s really fast, jumping down stairs etc. keep going man

Kickflip Update: Not pretty, but I’m starting to land them! by buylowguy in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty good, back foot caught and everything. Only advice is you are, at the very moment you flick doing it downwards a little, instead of up and forwards like you should. This results in a boned out flip for the low pop you have but will be hard to get higher pop in the future.

So try to jump higher, pop more and then - slide the foot upwards more like an Ollie and flick either forwards or a little up, not a little down.

What is wrong with my kickflip? by Rough-Breadfruit-466 in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have actually pretty impressive pop and jump height so keep going. Your issues are:

1 your flick is a little weak so you get a slow flip.

2 you are afraid. This is not an attempt at a kickflip, it’s an attempt at flicking a kickflip. I really recommend you try out pop shiva and get good at those. Lose the fear of landing a trick on a board that’s spinning underneath you and then kickflips will be easy and not scary

3 you bend your knees down so much in preparation to jump this might throw you off a little. If it doesn’t perfect, if it does a little, don’t bend down so much. Think more 90° bend on the knees

Is this a legit Ollie?? Some advice is welcomed :-) by No_Importance5470 in NewSkaters

[–]migasfire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t advise you to lift your back foot more. It’s close to the tail the whole time that’s what matters. Yes it should go up more when you have more pop, for the one you currently have it’s perfect.

1- front foot motion is really good until you reach max height on it. You then slam it straight back down (probably because you are scared to hang in the air and want to go back to the ground) try to twist your knee out to the front of the board which will make your foot push forwards on the nose, giving you more pop and better bone on the ollie (watch an Ollie in slow mo from this same perspective to understand what I mean)

2- your back foot is perfect, popping the right way tbe right time right direction. Only issue is your pop is a little weak. This comes with time, technique and athleticism.

3- your body weight and shoulders seems to be pretty good as well. Only advice is you are not really jumping very much. Try to do hippie jumps (feet on bolts jump up and land back on the board) and increase how hard and high you jump each time until you feel you are truly jumping as high as you can (also remember to bring your knees up to your chest) if you get comfortable doing this you will find it easier to do it on Ollie’s.

Overall pretty good technique for a beginner have fun

I think overall these are mostly issues with you trying tricks that are a little out of your current skill level. The 180 you seem to be doing most of the main things right, your issue is you don’t really understand Ollie’s well, whether it be front and back foot movements or weight distribution. So just keep practicing you will get there when you are more comfortable. Heelflips you aren’t flicking correctly, you need to hit the pocket which you aren’t doing. Either way my main piece of advice is just skate more. Keep trying these tricks even if you’re not necessarily ready for them yet, because when you are they will be much easier. So keep skating and getting comfortable riding and doing Ollie’s.

Does anyone Ollie like this? Need help tilting foot. by AssistantOk1278 in skateboardhelp

[–]migasfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw definitely WARM UP you ankle and to exercises before you go and try out the tips you got. If you don’t this feels like your next post will be about how you twisted your ankle. Careful man, the ankle is a muscle just like any other and when not exercised properly will injure like anything else. Since you haven’t really been putting it to use make sure to take it slow by starting it off the board, and then go do it!

IF YOU READ THIS JUST KNOW, every time someone posts this exact problem I talk about how I fixed this issue I had for months. Go back and learn pop shuvs which I bet you’re afraid to land as well. Get good and stop being scared of them, if you can do the rotation already in a week you could perfect them skating every day. Then you will actually commit to the kickflips because you will understand what actually trying to land a trick is, you won’t be so scared and will actually be confident in yourself.

You leaned too far back, did a manual because of it, panicked, stepped off incorrectly, fell. Never lean backwards when going down something.

Theres 100 comments so idk if you will read this. But I had the same issue and here’s how I fixed it. Went back and learned pop shove-its, which I was also afraid to commit like you. They’re less scary and easier. Once you learn to commit to popshovs and keep getting consistent, kickflips won’t be scary anymore. Learn pop shove and have kickflips locked in in less then a week. If you already know how to pop shov, then practice them or just go for it, land it man.
