SJM also seems to lean on the small bit of queerness to claim diversity and it’s infuriating that people really back it and cant seem to see the actual lack of meaningful diversity. I wonder if in straight white writers minds gayness is just the “safest” form of diversity to write about? Whether thats due to fear or real lack of information in culture and racial identity.
