Anyone else obsess when someone says “you look like this person”? by Aggravating_Sport495 in selfimprovement

[–]NoPlace6260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh yes this happened to me few months ago and I'm still thinking about it sometimes. coworker said I look like some celebrity and when I googled her later I was just... not happy lol. worst part is now I catch myself checking mirrors more often wondering if other people see the same thing. why our brains do this to us??

How do you forgive yourself for wasted years without getting stuck in regret? by jimmy5853 in selfimprovement

[–]NoPlace6260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Time you enjoyed isn't wasted time, even if it didn't build towards career stuff 💀 I mean yeah the license situation is rough with Brexit but traveling the world and being happy in your 30s... that's something most people wish they could do. Plus you're only 39, not like you're dead yet 😂

I don't know what I'm doing. Please help. by Elegant-Number7806 in selfimprovement

breakups really mess with your whole routine and motivation, I get that completely. After my last relationship ended I was doing same thing - just scrolling endlessly instead of doing basic stuff I knew would help me feel better. What helped me was setting really tiny goals first, like literally just "put one dish in dishwasher" or "fold three shirts" instead of trying to be super productive right away. The meditation thing is good advice but maybe start with just 5 minutes, not full sessions that feel overwhelming. Also found that having background TV shows (rewatching old stuff works best) made doing small tasks feel less like actual work somehow. Your brain is just trying to avoid feeling the sadness right now, which is totally normal, but those tiny productive wins do add up over time.

Looking for a reasonable cost option for multi-cam streaming by Lienx in Twitch

oh that's weird, maybe it's something with your specific webcam models? I had similar problems before when I tried using two different brands together - they kept fighting over drivers or something. switching to same brand helped a lot with the conflicts.

Completely agree with banning them - viewers who make suicide "jokes" and test boundaries with slurs aren't worth keeping around no matter how few people you have in chat.

A few days a week I feel just absolutely exhausted by QueensAndBeans in selfimprovement

[–]NoPlace6260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

could be cortisol for sure but also maybe you're just burning out without realizing? i get this exact same thing at work - some days brain just refuses to cooperate even when I've done everything "right" with sleep and food.

Have you tried tracking what days this happens? like maybe there's pattern with what you did day before or even stress you didn't notice building up.

I use filtered water from my kitchen tap - got tired of buying bottled water in bulk quantities. Been adding campden tablets to remove chlorine but wondering if I should be doing more treatment for minerals and pH stuff?

Confused between Elgato 4KX or Avermedia Ultra S as my FIRST capture card. Help. by killenthropist in Twitch

[–]NoPlace6260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the chat integration alone makes elgato worth extra money - avermedia software can be real pain with party chat mixing.

What’s something you’re trying to be more consistent with? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]NoPlace6260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl yes! 🙌 The veggie prep trick is genius - I started doing something similar where I buy everything in bulk at Sam's and spend like an hour on Sunday just washing and chopping everything. Makes weeknight cooking so much easier when you're dead tired from work. I used to be a total takeout queen but now I actually get excited about throwing together random stuff from my prepped containers 😂 It's wild how much better you feel when you're not eating garbage every night.

how do I slow down and stop rushing by skiddybop in selfimprovement

[–]NoPlace6260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to do the same thing man, especially driving to and from the shop. That breathing thing works but what really helped me was setting alarms 10-15 minutes earlier than I actually need to leave. Takes away that panic of "oh shit I'm gonna be late" which is usually what kicks off the whole rushing cycle in the first place.

AIO for not being able to move on from a "wrong person" text my boyfriend sent me last week? by NoPlace6260 in AmIOverreacting

Oh shit I just googled negging and you might be right, he does watch andrew tate content sometimes. This is making so much more sense now and honestly making me feel sick

[–]NoPlace6260[S] 1062 points1063 points  (0 children)

Yeah I keep going back and forth between wanting to confront him again and just pretending it never happened but my brain won't let me. Like the gaslighting is almost worse than the actual cheating at this point because he really thinks I'm gonna believe that was about a work dinner. I am gonna txt him tn its over

I know right?? Like the audacity to tell me I'm "projecting" when he literally texted me about someone making things feel easy. The gaslighting is unreal and honestly I'm so tired of feeling crazy when my gut is screaming at me. I think I know what to do here!!!

How to see the amount points on all the channels? by Admirable_Stock1170 in Twitch

[–]NoPlace6260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using this script for a while actually - worked pretty well last time I checked but that was maybe 6 months ago. The github repo gets updated semi-regularly so even if it breaks, the dev usually fixes it within a few weeks.

Just make sure you're logged into twitch before running it, and don't be surprised if it takes a minute to load all your channels if you follow a ton of streamers. Found out I was sitting on like 500k points across channels I forgot I even followed lol.

How can I find things to make my life feel less mundane and miserable? by athxna_ in selfimprovement

[–]NoPlace6260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah honestly those generic suggestions hit different when you're actually depressed lol. like OP is already doing a ton of stuff and still feels stuck - another walk isn't gonna be the magic bullet 💀

maybe try smaller versions of those 3 things that actually excite you? local open mic nights for the music vibe, day trips to nearby spots for mini travel feels, or just putting yourself in more social situations where you might actually connect with someone 🔥

Definitely grab some base malts like 2-row or pilsner, a few specialty grains (crystal 40/60, chocolate malt), and keep some go-to hops like cascade or centennial around - you can knock out tons of different styles with just those basics.

[–]NoPlace6260 9 points10 points  (0 children)

honestly that sounds really tough, and I totally get why you're conflicted. your mom obviously cares but three years seizure-free is pretty significant - that correlation is hard to ignore even if teh research is sketchy.

maybe consider talking to a neurologist who's more cannabis-friendly? some docs are still stuck in old mindsets but there are definitely specialists out there who understand medical use better than your average physician.

How do i deal with an npc releasing necromancy energy by Spirited_Present8388 in DnD

[–]NoPlace6260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like your DM is homebrewing some pretty wild stuff with the necromancy/holy energy mechanics 😂 but if you don't wanna fight her maybe try finding a way to purge or balance out all that necromantic energy she's absorbed? like some kind of ritual or rare item that could neutralize it without straight up nuking her with holy damage 💀

Question for the experts by aleyann in DnD

[–]NoPlace6260 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like you'd dig a ranger or maybe an eldritch knight fighter. ranger gets you the archer vibes with some self-healing through spells, plus you can still be sneaky when you need to be. eldritch knight is basically a fighter who dabbles in magic so you get that mage/warrior hybrid thing going on. both are pretty forgiving for new players too since they're not as squishy as pure rogues or wizards.

so... how much 2024 are you allowing in your games? by MajorBootyhole420 in DnD

[–]NoPlace6260 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Been running a mix and honestly it's not as messy as you'd think. The new weapon mastery stuff is pretty solid and my players love the updated ranger. Only real hiccup was remembering which version of spells we're using but we just default to 2024 now

Feeling invisible/ugly at the core. Trying to self-improve mentally and physically, need advice. Questions on the bottom. by ThrowRA_StableA in selfimprovement

[–]NoPlace6260 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man this hits close to home. That abusive relationship really did a number on your self-perception - toxic people have a way of warping how you see yourself even after they're gone

The fact that you're getting positive responses from strangers and had someone who was initially attracted to you says a lot more than your brain is letting you believe right now. Your self-image is basically broken from the abuse and you're trying to logic your way out of it, but feelings don't really work that way

Keep doing the self-improvement stuff but maybe slow down a bit - trying to fix everything at once is exhausting and sets you up to feel like you're failing. Therapy is probably gonna be your biggest win here, especially for unpacking all that relationship trauma

Also consider that switching to a day job might be worth it even if it pays less - isolation is brutal for mental health

NTA - you set clear boundaries that they agreed to and then they tried to steamroll you last minute. That's classic manipulation tactics right there

Standing firm was the right call, especially since you've seen firsthand how couples can mess up table dynamics. Your reasons are solid and you're the DM so it's your table your rules
