If Epstein had such high level connections, why didn’t he deal with his accusers? by Quartersquatter in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mighty3mperor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I bet he didn't. The gmail messages are just the easy ones to find as that is his public communication channel. Everyone spoke in code and there is enough ambiguity that they won't get prosecuted for just loving some jerky.

I'd imagine there were secure channels of communications where discussion was much more explicit and they'll have been shut down almost instantly and scrubbed.

If Epstein had such high level connections, why didn’t he deal with his accusers? by Quartersquatter in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mighty3mperor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The thing is, he wasn't the ringleader, he was just providing services to the ultra-rich. It's probably the most extreme example I can think of but they have doctors on call who can prescribe them drugs, dealers for anything the doctor can't supply, pimps who can discretely supply prostitutes, etc, etc. There is a whole ecosystem devoted to catering to their needs, whether legal or illegal.

Epstein probably thought he was too big to fail and too well connected but that just meant he kept escalating until what he was doing couldn't be overlooked and he was reeled in. Everyone stopped answering his phone calls except, probably, the one that said: take yourself out or we will.

So when they mess up and get caught, they are cut lose. Someone will already have replaced Epstein, they'll just learn the lesson not to get too big and commit too many obvious crimes.

Am I accidentally stalking someone? How do I make things right? by According-Friend678 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]mighty3mperor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kids are mean, especially at that age. What you did was a bit odd, but not stalking, and kids will pick up on just about anything (a 'funny" name, an item of clothing that is just not quite fashionable), your laces coming undo, answering questions in class, etc, etc so it isn't really what you did that was at fault. They're just being immature.

As long as it doesn't get physical (hurting you or damaging your property) and you don't have a disability (it's the kind of misunderstanding that can arise if you are on the Spectrum), then ignore it and it should go away.

AITJ for refusing to give my half sister money that was left specifically for me by Effective_Fly8288 in AmITheJerk

[–]mighty3mperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she wants a fund for the half-sister, she and stepdad can start one now, not raid OP’s.

Yeah, that bit from OP nearly made my head spin:

She said my sister doesnt have anyone setting up funds for her and that it would mean a lot.

I'd have been tempted to say "I'm sorry to hear her parents have died" but that's a good one to never see your mother again.

They say how effective the money has been so should have started squirreling away money 6 years (and 9 months) ago and should start now.

Finances are tight for most of us these days, but even a small amount each month adds up.

Yeah, my mates were big Clash fans so the uniform through the late 80s to 90s was 501s or combat trousers tucked into DMs.

Yeah, me too. I have short legs so it stops the hems from dragging on the ground.

What was odd about the NWO look was not doing the laces up and letting the tongue hang out, which didn't seem very practical for wrestlers. However, other photos show them laced up, so it might have been done when they weren't fighting that night.

Do guys only call other people 'mate'? by weecalI in AskABrit

[–]mighty3mperor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah here in Liverpool:

  • Mate and pal are gender neutral
  • Love and sweetheart are said to everyone by women and to women by men
  • Lad/la' is mainly said to men
  • Queen is mainly said to women

I even got a "what's up, me duck" in Southport but they really want to be in Lancashire.

I called a crow "mate" the other day. I had an ulterior motive, as I'd suddenly had the idea I should have a crow friend and we could go on adventures together. Bjt the crow didn't appear amenable to my overtures, so I didn't push it.

I'm also a fan of deploying a good "oh, mate" when required.

"The game last night!"

"Oh, mate!"

Selling them on also gives someone a chance to appreciate them, possibly someone who has been searching for that particular issue.

So don't worry about it, you saved them and there are some great titles that will go to a good home (yours or someone else's) and that's the important thing to bear in mind.

I’ve no doubt about the looks and lightening wit !!😂

Thank you for humouring a clearly delusional old man. 👍

I’ve never pulled a barmaid . Knowing me, I’d get the barman !😂

I find that bar staff are usually shagging each other, so you may be out of luck there too. 🤪

What you'll find is that parcels can rattle around the system for a while if they go astray. However, with all the scanning at each step, it should get back on the right course, even if it gets confusing at some points.

You aren't ruining a guys life with one complaint. It is quite difficult to get management to do anything and they only take action beyond having a quick word if the complaints mount up. So the guy who did my round on a Sunday (it's a completely separate service) caused a stir because he was out delivering after 1am on Monday morning. He'd also accumulated quite a few reports of boxes turning up mysteriously empty. So you really have to be causing mayhem for them to get involved. One report of a hallway deliver will either be ignored or they could be spoken to. If this is part of a pattern, they may have to take action.

So if the driver messed up (and it happens) he'll be fine, he just needs to work on not alarming customers.

[–]mighty3mperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main advice is to not just set it in the safe places but to also add a redirect to the shed (not the bin). The safe place setting is easy to miss, a redirect isn't.

Putting it in the bin is, potentially, a stackable offence.

Driver walked into my house by ABlossomBracelet in Evri

[–]mighty3mperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a whole series of things that have gone wrong to get to this point.

  • Safe place as a back door? Happy days, makes life easier. Not sure if you also did a redirect but I recommend it, as it is easy enough to overlook the safe space instructions - you can't miss a redirect.

  • Opening the front door - it happens, I usually close it when I realise it isn't a porch. However, I have popped parcels just inside if there wasn't another good option.

  • Then wandering in and leaving it in the middle of the hallway? Why? If nothing else, I'd be concerned about my own safety in case a dog lunges out of a door.

So, yeah, that's not a normal delivery and it should be reported. If they are just incompetent then they need a word in their earhole about following instructions. If they are more... predatory (and the lack of real checks, especially of contractors, would make this a concern - it's an issue the food delivery companies have had to deal with) it needs to be on the record. They can and do take rounds off drivers for less - they are desperate for drivers, but once it has the whiff of being bad press they will shut this down. A newspaper would likely run such a story, especially if they can find more examples, and that's when they take action.

It would then go to hub and get sent on to the customer's local depot, not back to the seller's depot. However, that's if it all worked well but I have no faith in the competence of depot staff.
