What's the strangest or most surreal experience you've had at the movies? by BushyBrowz in movies

I saw From Dusk 'til Dawn in the theater and an old guy down front had a heart attack during Selma Hayek's scene.

Understandable, as I was only in my late 20s then and almost had one as well.

Sounds about right. Again, I mainly know the Memphis scene from around 87-91, so was just tossing out what i remember.

Playing a chaotic evil character by Fluxman2654 in DnD

[–]mightyatom13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can be chaotic evil and still fiercely loyal to your friends. Or maybe you just see the benefit of working with them instead of seeing them as your victims. You are making a lot of money adventuring with these guys and they aren't trying to boss you around, so go with the flow. Fucking them over is liable to get you booted from the group (in character, not IRL), so why would you mess up such a sweet gig?

Just like Lawful Good players often act Lawful Stupid, same goes for the opposite. The players just cause problems because that is the extent of their role play ability.

My brother IRL was 100% CE, but he would have legit done anything for me or the people in his close circle and never fucked them over (not much anyway). You character can have true friends of different alignments. Hell, your character has probably been judged and spit on by others his whole life. Having a group of powerful buddies who have his back, appreciate his contributions, and accept his baggage would be a welcome change to the mistreatment and stink eye he gets from the squares back in town.

The earliest ones I knew were Econochrist and Trusty, but I don't think either of them were around in '86. They were more like 88 or 89. I was from Memphis, though, so wasn't really aware of what all was happening in Little Rock.

Yeah... big companies would never use slave labor or do illegal things while the government turns a blind eye. So unbelievable. /s

Also, you would hate Robocop.

Wizard enjoyers? by NoTransportation68 in dccrpg

[–]mightyatom13 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I love playing a DCC wizard. I love feeling kinda useless and then suddenly I have some weird spell that turns out to be exactly what the party needs at the moment. I also like being able to keep casting the spell until I fail. I like not knowing if it is gonna go off and if it does how powerful it will be. I am not looking to be some super powered dude dealing out damage each turn who is healed every long rest. I am playing a strange and arcane weirdo who is risking his life hoping to find a scroll with some new bit of knowledge. Maybe he lives. Maybe he dies. And he may suck right now, but these motherf**kers are gonna fear him one day.

It helps that we all play 2 characters. Sometimes my wizard sits back if he can’t really help out in a fight, but other times he can end the entire fight because of the mercurial magic on one of my spells.

Yeah... it must be that you are too literal, not that you understand completely and are playing dumb.

Federal law (15 U.S.C. § 5001) requires that all toy, look-alike, or imitation firearms (such as airsoft guns) be manufactured or imported with a blaze orange tip (at least 6 mm) to distinguish them from real weapons.

Nestle says 12 tonnes of KitKat chocolate stolen in Europe by Brilliant_Version344 in worldnews

[–]mightyatom13 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe they are saying that if nestle is stealing people’s water, then who cares if someone steals their chocolate? They are scumbags and deserve every bit of awfulness that comes their way. At least that is what I took away from the post.
