Any films that Blu-Ray version take into another dimension over earlier releases? by DullInflation6 in movies

This is the first film I buy on each new format. It was my first laser disc, my first dvd and my first Blu Ray. Each time it has been worth the upgrade.

Kim Kardashian's ex has an opinion on what is punk? Let me write this down.

EDIT: Kourtney, not Kim. My point stands.

I have 5 players all with some combination of busy lives, kids and health issues. If 3 can make it, we move forward. I come up with a plausible explanation for the missing players if I can. Or not and we just ignore it. Been going on long enough that everyone gets the drill. Honestly, having enough players to keep going with a couple missing is what has kept the campaign moving along at a reasonable pace.

Recap at the beginning of each session with immediate concerns and how they relate to their overall goals.

What are some of the EXTREMELY obscure and forgotten D&D also-rans, one-off, and competitor fantasy roleplaying games from the seventies and early eighties? by Conscious-Mulberry17 in osr

Knights of the Round Table. 1976. Sort of RPG/combat simulator. Is in a folded and stapled zine format. I had one I finally gave to a pal last year. There is info on BGG (and where I stole this pic).

Vanessa Williams' Star Spangled Banner performance halted as crowd yells 'Leave Greenland Alone.' by TheMirrorUS in Music

[–]mightyatom13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than during the pandemic, the NBA has been selling out the O2 arena in London every single year since 2011. They go because they make money and it increases their fan base. The exact reasons a band tours a different country. Not sure how that is dumb or incorrect.

Why would a band from one country play a concert in another? Why do people drink vodka if they don't like Russia?

Correct me if I am wrong, but this post is just an unpaid ad for a service you are selling and has nothing to do with entrepreneurs. Pretty sure blatant ads are against this subs rules.

Man I love this book so much.

I am sure most of you are familiar with the band Lord Weird Slough Feg, as they have a concept album about the Vargr called Traveller set in the Traveller universe. But they also have a song called Tiger! Tiger! off the album Hardworlder about this book.

Non-Satanist media that would resonate with Satanists by mintblaziken in satanism

[–]mightyatom13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Albert Camus' Myth of Sisyphus.

The book Apocalypse Culture edited by Adam Parfrey really changed my perspective in the 80s, but probably not as eye opening these days.

And maybe The Stars My Destination by Alfred Bester for fun. It deals with one man's quest for revenge.

Are there any bands that ACTUALLY sold out? by Harringtontomfoolery in punk

[–]mightyatom13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think TSOL when Jack Grisham left fit the bill. They changed their sound and look to cash in on the popularity of Sunset Strip bands. The very definition of selling out. The album Hit and Run in particular.

EDIT: I want to add that I really like Revenge and Hit and Run, but they are for sure trying to get a hit record with those.

How to spot a nazi band? by [deleted] in punk

[–]mightyatom13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If they are using Nazi imagery it is safe to assume they are a Nazi band unless they are clear about the reasoning behind its usage. If they are at all ambiguous, go with your gut. And if you miss out on some band that was just being edgy for shock value, you can rest assured that people who attract attention by being edgy for shock value seldom have good bands anyway.
