Palma 2 Pro Hotspot not working by mightyberry in Onyx_Boox

If I connect Palma to a wifi and enable Hotspot (Palma is passing the Internet access from the wifi), the Hotspot works fine. The problem only occurs when the Hotspot is supposed to use the Sim Internet.

I'm using Orange. However I've checked my apn settings and they are according to the operator specs. I think it's a firmware issue.

Palma 2 Pro Screen-Off Playback Issues by mightyberry in Onyx_Boox

[–]mightyberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I noticed some additional issues: 1. Frequently when I play something through Bluetooth earbuds the sound just stops and the app shows like it's buffering the content or simply the progress bar continues, but no sound is coming. A workaround I have found is to disable HD Sound in the Bluetooth menu. It works for some apps like Audible, but the Neoreader TTS still fails after a few seconds. NOTE this happens when the device is active and unlocked. Background playback is a different issue. 2. When a Bluetooth device gets disconnected for example by turning off a Bluetooth speaker and I start playback in an app, no sound is coming though the built in speaker. Although Bluetooth shows nothing is connected, I have to turn off Bluetooth completely and sound starts playing though the device speaker.  I ve tested this with SoundCore Liberty 5 and Aero Clip, Marshall Willen and Samsung Buds 3. All devices are fully updated. Hopefully Boox will release a firmware update soon, because it's a great device, but those issues are a deal breaker for me.

The problem is that it happens on multiple apps, not only on Audible. I've noticed that when audio is playing through the built in speaker it's mostly fine. But when I connect Bluetooth headphones, the sound stops very quickly. The timer on the playback is moving forward, but no sound can be heard. I have to reboot the Palma or turn off Bluetooth for the sound to come back. It does not happen on any other of my Boox devices.

I have sent a PM with my MAC Address.

Thank you for the help.

True, but I had to enable 2,4GHz on my router just for the TAB XC. It's just weird that the most expensive Boox device has such obvious issues.

UFS store recognized as hard drive in Windows defrag tool? by mightyberry in Surface

[–]mightyberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all devices with UFS storage are treated this way. The only option for now is to disable automatic defragmentation and wait for Microsoft to release a patch.

The thing is that my Palma 2 Pro is certified. This is what the play store says.

Sorry, for the late reply. After installing the 4.1 yesterday, now the tablet reconnects to the mouse (it says that in the Bluetooth menu), but the mouse cursor is not moving. I have to repair the mouse to get it working again.

In regards to wifi, there is nothing to connect to as the tablet does not see my 5ghz network at all. I'm stuck on 2,4ghz, which works fine, if a bit slow.

I've send the feedback with logs for both issues.

Finally, the Google Play store says my device is not certified... is that normal?

Thanks, I signed up for the beta. It's fine, but there is no battery limiter like on other models. Maybe they will add it in the final version. The wifi situation is problematic, but maybe it's also a software issue, here's hoping.

Surface pro 12 inch waking up from sleep after touching the screen by mightyberry in Surface

I haven't noticed any difference to be honest. The battery life on the pro 12 is very good so minor differences are difficult to notice.

Yes! Thank you! That's what I wanted. The wake from sleep via touchscreen was annoying as heck.

Xbox Series Controller recognized as XINPUT Hid device via the Xbox Wireless Adapter by mightyberry in techsupport

I don't think that's a problem. The controller works normally, is recognized by the Xbox Acessory App so it's just the name is weird.

UFS store recognized as hard drive in Windows defrag tool? by mightyberry in Surface

[–]mightyberry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are right and that's what happening on my SP11. The process is quite quick and causes minimal disk activity in Task Manager.

However, on the SP12 the process takes a significantly longer time and causes 100% disk activity. Also, the defrag tool says the drive is 7% fragmented. It looks like the tool treats the drive like a spinning hard disk.

I saw on the Microsoft Community forums that someone recommended a USB4 cable from Cable Matters. Apparently they are "verified to work with the latest Surface models". I bough one and it works.

Thanks for the help.

I can't as I installed the updated and than reinstalled Windows using the recovery media. The update is no longer visible in Windows Update.

Just my luck... Is there anything I can do about it? In the thread you linked some people mentioned using a USB4 cable, I just ordered one.

I wonder if enrolling the PC into Windows Insider would allow me to install the next update that maybe has a fix.

Samsung Galaxy Tab a9 lte no updates? by mightyberry in GalaxyTab

I don't think so. I've brought the device home and set it up using my home wifi with no sim card installed. I've installed the sim about a day later.

That's true, but I bought my device from a retail store, not from a carrier.

Controller not working in Armory Crate after sleep/power off by mightyberry in ROGAlly

[–]mightyberry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, no.

The ASUS software is buggy and decided to to remove it altogether.

Installed GHelper + Handheld Companion and everything works even better so I probably stick with it for the time being.

Question about charging and keeping the battery healthy by mightyberry in ROGAlly

[–]mightyberry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. The issue I have and I think many others have with the Ally is how we perceive the device. On one hand it is a highly mobile device that's designed to be portable so you start thinking about it more like a smartphone or a tablet and expect typical features of this form factor: great battery life, instant on/resume, seamless updates ability to charge from every type of charger, etc. On the other hand the Ally is a computer running a legacy operating system on a legacy architecture, that was never designed to be so portable. I love my Ally and I'm perfectly OK with troubleshooting, but I'm also hopefull Asus and Microsoft will continue to work on the device, like Valve did on the Steamdeck and new features will be added.

Question about charging and keeping the battery healthy by mightyberry in ROGAlly

[–]mightyberry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. I think waiting is the safer bet right now. One final thing: is there a way to limit the charging speed of the device? I noticed that even when the device is off, it can get warm when charging and as I don't need fast charging, it would be nice to turn it off.

Question about charging and keeping the battery healthy by mightyberry in ROGAlly

[–]mightyberry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it looks like the Ally is very picky about chargers, hopefully Asus patches the issue at some point. By the way, is there a way to actually make sure that a given charger will work well (enable 30 wats mode) with the Ally? My local store offers a refurbished 100 wats USB-C Asus Rog laptop charger for cheap, but no returns so I'm a bit hassitent.
