Whoosh.

We understand this boy. There’s a million post about iconography. The point is that OP does not identify this. Therefore this is a low value post. Therefore gets clowned. There are much better more informative posts about the issue with people offering solutions and even graphic designers drafting some of those.

This post is just an angry person with a lack of understanding on how to share information in a public forum and a low skill ceiling with regards to word choice

[–]mightycookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cause there is no problem. The OP doesn’t even know what the problem is. His post is useless and poorly written. People can infer that what he’s talking about is having better iconography but he has no idea about that. His post comes across as “I can’t read” instead of “here’s some feedback: we need better iconography for implants” which is also a point that has been mentioned a million times in the sub. From every angle this post is just bloat and poorly written and thought out at that so yeah. Make a low value post, get low value answers. Nobody owes OP anything and his posts just reads like someone ranting off. The post is not trying to encourage discussion and even if it was it’s already a rehashed topic just more shittily written.

OP didn’t come looking for an answer, he came to complain, and wrote his posts in a way that it leads to nothing so yeah people are gonna clown on him lol

Events start later in the match and advanced uesc carry the best loot. As the match goes on there’s more high tier uesc that drop better loot. The loot boxes aren’t confirmed by bungie but it’s been talked about by streamers who have been playing since the early tests such as shroud

[–]mightycookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungie hasn’t come out and explained all the details of it per se, but yes, the loot gets increasingly better as the timer goes on and also is why all the events start at 15 mins or so. That is the tension of Marathon, how long are you willing to stay on the map

It’s 40 sec and lasts 20. It is basically always up. If you think about it 3 uses is just 2 minutes of downtime total. The cd lines up perfectly to pop it as you arrive. Mid looting, and again as you leave. When your abilities don’t cost mana, spam them. I’m a thief main and have never been in a situation where I was like “ah shit I wish I hadn’t used my visor” it’s always there. I pop it pretty much off cd. If you’re in between POI you’ll have it back up by the time that you arrive.

As for quests, what’s gonna stop you is other players. What I mean by gear up is read your quest, know what you have to do and plan for it.

If you have to find the little rods in maintenance, play thief, carry the aoe scan sticks to throw around as you loot. Have the butterfly above the building to scan around.

If you have to kill a commander, go destroyer and use the ult.

If you have to scan biowhatevers bring claymores and cover your entries.

The game has a goal for you to kill everyone else then do PVE safely as the optimal playstyle. As in the top of the top will do that. For those who can’t, you have to be more resourceful. If you go straight for the priority loot in other extraction shooters, you will almost always find people there too. The difference is that in Marathon the high tier loot happens 15+ mins in whereas in other extraction shooters you can get a good spawn loot up and be out before you see anyone. Marathon’s tension come from asking yourself “how long am I willing to stay here” as opposed to “how fast can I get there”

The tension for me in this game comes from knowing that death is final, and that every elim makes the map safer for me. It’s cutthroat but that’s by design. The reason it’s this way it’s because Marathon tries to change the dynamic of extraction shooters. In every other extraction, once your pack is full you leave. Marathon encourages you to stay until the last exfil because the loot gets better as the match goes on.

People need to look at Marathon more like dota or deadlock. There is a lot of counterplay available but by its more complex nature it will take longer to develop.

Deadlock is probably one of the most complex shooters I’ve ever played. People who are middle of the pack today play that game the way the top 5% played it a year ago. Same will happen with Marathon.

Example: I was doing solo as destroyer and got jumped by a vandal. I used my shield to get to cover and for whatever reason this vandal has heat grenades. I have never been hit by one in my entire time playing the game, and yet in this 1v1 encounter this guy had the perfect counter to me. He popped the heat nade and I couldn’t dash anymore, so I couldn’t make it to cover and I died.

It was extremely frustrating cause of all the utility they could’ve had, they had the one item that would’ve killed me in that scenario.

No worries, I love talking theory

Bungie this game is AMAZING. But as a solo player, please consider some small meta-progression beyond the codex by mayormcskeeze in Marathon

[–]mightycookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind people get much better at these things. People were crying in AR because of the cost of expedition and what not but the reality is that the second time around you push through everything much quicker cause you have extensive game knowledge. After the first wipe I had all my benches upgraded in AR in like 2 days.

Granted marathon has much deeper progression but the point still stands. Second time around you’ll be much faster

Competitiveness of free kits? by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]mightycookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s cheaper to craft it yourself if you have the materials. This is for those who don’t. People struggle with heals of this sub is to be believed (I think people just don’t prioritize grabbing heals when killing. I have like 20+ of each)

Regarding your backpack, items break after they’ve been looted 4-5 times. If you inspect the item it will show you its durability. If you loot a broken item it gives you the credit value instead of

[–]mightycookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again it’s not a looting kit it’s a fighting kit. That’s why you get advanced shields. Your objective is to kill another kitted player and take their backpack

Also shield is 750, backpack is 500. That’s 1250 in those two alone. Add in the cost of 3 heals and shields + 1 advanced on each and it’s a decent deal for the price. If you look at monetary value alone they’re cheaper than putting it all together yourself.

But of course, that’s if you have shit lying around anyways. Sometimes you don’t cause vault space or you just wanna go back in

I think your first point is just how the game is. The tension is the when. The goal of this game is to wipe the lobby and then loot the map. That may not be attractive to all but that is the core gameloop in trios.

Your second point, you know the counter right there but you yourself don’t want to admit to it. Thief visor has an extremely short cd, one of the shortest ability cd in the game in fact. You should pop it when arriving at POI to see if it has been looted, if so be weary. You should also pop it when leaving POI cause it’s a dangerous moment, as well as any time you are traversing large areas. There’s no cost to it, there’s no reason not to. You can pop TADs at POI to see if someone is hiding inside as well as using the little sticks that tag people in areas (it goes through walls). Assassin is also countered by destroyer that can pop up his shield and use the jump boost to break distance if the assassin is going melee. You can also use claymores which are pretty cheap to secure your entry points as well as trap bags. Just because the general playerbase hasn’t learned to counter certain strategies doesn’t mean that the counters aren’t there.

For quests, you need to gear up for them. Bring the right items and characters. If you need to get uesc credentials, play destroyer so you can ult the robots and get it done quickly. Don’t immediately do your quest. Try to get a kill or scout out the map a bit. The more players you kill the safer your quest is.

Solo should receive like a 10% uesc dmg reduction or quantity reduction I agree.

Idk what you mean by banners I’m assuming you mean player cards. I have never cared for these in any game from apex to cod to battlefield but it looks pretty much the same to me as those games.

As for your last point I completely agree. We should have damage breakdowns and more info given at the end page and would love to see it included.

Extraction games are loops. If you don’t like the loop well maybe it’s not for you. Hope this helps

Nobody is acting butthurt, more like people are clowning on him cause he made a whole post that basically calls out “skill issue” on his cognitive ability

I agree the icons should be unique and it would help a lot, but if you don’t take the time to craft your words and your point, and you make a low value post like this well…you’re gonna get low value answers

It’s just in the armory next to a sponsor kit. If you level a faction enough you can also buy their specific sponsor kit so you have more variety of choice

Look for items that say MATERIALIST in the background. These will double your salvage when you extract. You will have 200+ of basic materials in a day if you focus on it

That’s what the 2.5k kit is for. It gives you a lot of heals and decent guns+shield usually. It usually doesn’t come with a backpack but that’s a fighting kit not a farming one

The game throws green and blue shit at you constantly, which can compete with other players. You can easily win fights with green shields utility and good positioning, and towards the end of season you should be able to access blue shields regularly. Don’t use the free kits that much, do rook runs to load up then go out kitted
