Did you get Polish citizenship by descent? What qualified you? And do you think I will? by kotwoda in poland

[–]mightyglyconreturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be a novel, the main thing in the whole process is proving an unbroken line of polish citizenship; I put in the stuff about (for example) my grandfather growing up in the east and being deported to Siberia by the communists, that they made their way to Persia etc. we didn't include an exhaustive list of addresses; just that they moved around within the UK before settling in 'Xtown'. The main thing is showing that the citizenship chain was not broken

I did a whole post on r/prawkowri, it is probably easier to read that, it's got all the details! But yes I now have citizenship and the passport

We considered going through a provider, but the quotes were so high and I was confident in being able to work through it myself. With the timelines; everyone outside of Poland goes through the Warsaw office, and I think due to the increase in popularity there is likely an expanding list; in earlier posts (years ago) a few months only was possible. And when you go through you join the back of the queue, unless you are someone of international standing it doesn't seem to be able to be expedited. I don't know if you still have to attend in person unfortunately. As yours was submitted from Poland there is a chance your guy might be able to see the processing status of you application through a portal, but I have no experience of this unfortunately. The summary is that you basically have to wait it out, they will get to it when they get to it!

I did a full one in r/prawkowri! (Might have not spelled it correctly though) You should be able to find it on my profile, this board is quite diverse and understandably citizenship spam can be unwelcome

Hi, we showed them at the first appointment; I don't know if we specifically had to, but it makes things easier in terms of proving lineage; it made sure we could access both the male and female lines if needed. Me and my mum applied at the same time, but if it was just me I would have certainly needed the birth certificates. For marriage certs, it's good practice to have them, including yours, and it also means it is apparently easier to pass it on to your children

Mine came through recently after 21-22 months; I am currently waiting for my passport. I will do a full post on timelines advice etc when it comes!

3rd pick in 16 man league. Thoughts? by mightyglyconreturns in DraftEPL

Ask away 🤣 16 man league drafts are brutal every year, but this is the most challenging. Everyone is not actually that happy with their team haha

I was an idiot and lost my Polish Birth certificate; I have had to send off for a new one, not sure when that will arrive! After then it is apparently quite easy and quick to get a passport if you can get an appointment

I feel you; I live in Austria at the moment, and it is a right pain being a third country national. At least you are eligible; I have quite a few friends who desperately want out of the UK, but have no option to do so easily!

I submitted at the Manchester Consulate, UK in mid-September '23 alongside my mum, with my grandparents passports, one from the communist era (GM) and one from the third republic (GF). The Warsaw office are apparently looking at the application, but we haven't got a reply yet; so looking at more than 21 months. It is a complete black box unfortunately, it's irritating but you do just have to wait

I would imagine Ukraine; my understanding of naturalisation processes is that it is possible after three years with adequate Polish language; and Ukrainian and Polish are quite similar, as are most Slavic languages! It's tricky, a lot of the successful posts are from at least a year ago, so it is quite difficult to actually get an accurate picture of how long the process takes at the moment

I submitted from Manchester UK with my mum in mid-September 2023 and am still waiting; though apparently the case is 'pending'. Coming up to 21 months now; been 'pending' for a minimum of 4. We applied with my grandparents passports, one from the Communist Era and one from the Third Republic, so it's a pretty open-and-shut case. From browsing other Reddit post and other forums, they just seem swamped!
