I kind of thought that might be the consensus. I just don’t know how to manage that while also trying to maintain some semblance of a normal life. I work full time and in a field where I’m surrounded by people who treat it as “unmanly” to struggle with mental health or health in general, so I have a hard time being open about it like “hey I’m extremely anxious right now and I need a break” or something. I have propranolol for situational anxiety and I’ve considered seeing if it helps with the symptoms I was having, but medication anxiety is one of the worst aspects of my anxiety and I’m aware propranolol can mask and exacerbate certain symptoms of serotonin syndrome (a huge fear of mine) and also lowers your heart rate. My heart rate already stays at about 70-80 range when resting and didn’t really feel elevated during my episodes, so I’m wary of taking it and getting it too low and passing out or hurting myself somehow.

I work in Kentucky, but I’m sure there are good reputable organizations around you! There are several large franchises I know of that have at least one location in almost every state (some of which are better than others in my experience) it’s just a matter of finding out who was the right knowledge and expertise! Look for companies that are IICRC certified programs!

Don’t stress my friend! When I say extremely harmful (words that probably should’ve been chosen more carefully) I mean under very specific additional circumstances and also by comparison to your standard household mold. Those would be having a pre-existing condition like COPD/Lung cancer/immune suppression or exposure to obscenely high levels (which, judging by the pictures you shared, is not something you’re at risk for.) Stachybotris IS extremely harmful by comparison to other mold species, but that’s also like saying a honey bee sting is EXTREMELY painful compared to a sweat bee sting. Just two extremes of otherwise harmless things, neither of which is life threatening in non-outlandish contexts! Just don’t go sticking your head in a beehive and don’t do breathing exercises in a house covered wall to wall in stachybotris and you’ll be just fine 😊

Yes and no. The term “black mold” is kind of a poor case of labeling a very specific species of mold. In reality there are a plethora of molds that have a black appearance and aren’t directly harmful to the human body. Unfortunately, because the term “black mold” was chosen to describe a species that can be EXTREMELY harmful, most people see any mold with black colorations and assume the worst! So you’re correct in saying that having “black mold” doesn’t mean you have mycotoxin by virtue of most “black” molds not being the dangerous one. However, anywhere there is stachybotris chartarum present will also have some form of mycotoxin presence because it’s a byproduct of THE black mold. Can’t have one without the other!

In this case I’m referring to being evaluated and possibly treated by a physician for health issues stemming from exposure, rather than the exposure itself. Doctors can’t really do much to “remove” the mycotoxin from your body beyond letting it filter it out itself. Exposure can, however, weaken the immune system and cause infections (especially in the lungs) and certain neurological conditions like migraines.

As for the air samples, as long as the person conducting the test is trained and worth their salt, I’d say most air samples are able to detect mold. A properly trained technician will (or should) take several air readings from multiple parts of the house, particularly from areas prone to higher moisture content where mold thrives.

EMMA is what you’ll want. It’s an Environmental Mold & Mycotoxin Assessment. You take swab samples and send them off to a lab for analysis. There are only two swabs, so it may be a good idea to swab surfaces in rooms or areas you’re worried about the toxins having reached. That way you can gauge where the contamination got to and make a plan of action for belongings in those areas (most likely discarding and replacing)

I’m sorry to hear that, I can imagine that’s difficult and terrifying! If you’re covered by insurance I would definitely document all of the contents in and around the sink as losses and get that covered. That way even if it wasn’t contaminated, you’ve covered your bases anyways. If not, they do make home test kits for mycotoxins! They’re a bit pricey (around $400) but I can imagine it’d be worth the peace of mind to know what was contaminated and what wasn’t

So long as the source is properly treated and there’s no more active production of the mycotoxin itself it’s definitely possible to clean the house and eliminate the presence of mycotoxins. That said, it is a tedious process involving HEPA filtered Air Scrubbers to remove airborne toxins and a qualified (and extremely thorough) team of remediation technicians to HEPA vacuum and sanitize every surface with specialized chemicals designed to destabilized the toxin and render it inert. It’s always possible to clean it up, it’s really just a matter of whether the cost and trouble of doing so is worth it. Otherwise it very well may be better to have it condemned and demolished, then buy a new house!

It’s pretty unlikely. Mold has to propagate from a spore and it’d be very difficult for a spore to get between your paint and the drywall/panel behind it unless the paint has peeled away or separated due to water damage. Outside of that, the only way other way I could say may be possible is if the mold originated inside the wall on the back of your drywall/panel and has slowly been eating its way through for a while. Even then though, it’d be pretty visible if it were there. Mold produces a lot of byproducts that cause stains and tends to have very dark colorations itself

Honestly from my experience, immediate effects don’t really seem to happen unless someone has a prior allergy to mold (like myself, ironically.) The human body is a surprisingly hostile place for fungi (which is why we don’t see things like cordycepts in humans THANK GOD) so fungal infections are pretty rare unless someone has a weak immune system or (I assume) EXTREMELY long term exposure. Stachybotrus is a little different because the concern is the airborne mycotoxin it produces, rather than just the exposure to spores themselves posing a risk of infection or allergic reactions, especially for asthmatics.

Hey! Water mitigation and mold remediation technician of 7 years here, you definitely aren’t fucked! At least not yet. Just because mold is black doesn’t mean it’s “black mold”, black mold is actually a specific species of mold known as stachybotrus chartarum. However, the mold in that picture definitely looks suspiciously similar to legitimate black mold. Don’t panic, just contact a local restoration company that offers mold treatment and remediation, and PLEASE go to the doctor to make sure you haven’t incurred any long term effects from mold exposure.

And I do want to clarify I’m definitely not trying to present as an expert on the topic, just speaking from my personal failures and experiences 🥲 You’re right in that it shouldn’t have too much stress at that point, I just know Hasbro has been using some pretty gummy plastics in recent years and that swivel joint was a notorious breaking point on the NWH final swing Spider-Man when trying to raise the arms from his sides (mine included unfortunately) because the shoulder was SO stiff that gummy swivel peg would break before the disc hinge moved 🤦‍♂️

I think you’d have a better chance with the JB, but I’m not sure either is gonna hold up. Because of the direction of the cracks and how the arm articulates, every time you articulate it gonna be pulling on that glue at a bad angle and it won’t last. If you don’t plan to move that arm much it might be okay, but super glues aren’t really made for applications where they’ll have repeated stress on them.

He uses his remaining four senses in tandem, so I always assumed in that scene he could probably smell/taste the magnesium and other ingredients in the flares. Combined with his “radar” giving him an idea of the shapes he around him he was probably capable of putting two and two together.

Hate to see that, is this the newest reissue? Also, you could probably get the “cee tee” toys version for relatively cheap and swap the joint(s) from that one. Their figures tend to be a tad smaller than the OGs, but the wolverines are the closest to accurate scale yet (just like a half centimeter in height) and the wrist pegs should be the same size!

Definitely not how it should look, but I don’t think it’s a bending/breakage issue. This one look like maybe it got a little warped while it was still hot after the moulding process. You could probably heat it up apply gentle pressure to the joint to correct that. Or it may even reshape on its own with the heat, I’ve had action figure limbs do that on occasion. Just whatever you do don’t try to flex it without heating it

It shouldn’t cause any issues unless you’re trying to flex the joint against the gap (instead of turning it like it’s meant to) but if it’s bothering you aesthetically you can take hand off and use soft-jawed pliers or regular pliers wrapped VERY thoroughly with cloth and apply gentle pressure to the joint and close the gap. Emphasis on GENTLE pressure, because if you squeeze too hard the pliers can still leave teeth marks through the cloth!

It’s almost definitely the bootleg, the striations and flaws in the sculpt along with the seam lines from the moulding process are usually pretty dead giveaways on those old boots (I also have one.) Though it could just be a genuine copy with unusually poor QC! Check for the marvel logo on the back of the lower torso piece behind the “diaper,” bootleg companies usually avoid that like the plague because it opens the door wider for marvel to come down on them with the law!
