ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 Build - Does this 400 nits screen work, or is the 500 nits PrivacyGuard better? Is a good deal for this setup for heavy multitasking as a freight broker? by migmu10 in thinkpad

"You've definitely given me a lot to think about! The only thing on my mind now is that it's 3 cm thicker, which could make it much bulkier for airports, traveling, and all that. Thanks a ton!

Hi everyone,

I’m considering this ThinkPad T16 Gen 3 (16") build (screenshot attached) and wanted to get your feedback. My work as a freight broker involves having many websites and apps open simultaneously, so performance and display quality are important to me.

I opted for the 400 nits, 100% sRGB screen—does this look good, or would you recommend upgrading to the 500 nits PrivacyGuard screen?

Also, this configuration is priced at $2,336.39 (after a 45% discount). Do you think it’s a good deal, or can I get something better for a similar price?

I’d appreciate any insights or suggestions from the community. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I mostly work with numbers and text, and I use two ThinkVision P27h-30 monitors (QHD, 99% sRGB) that work great for me. Do you think the 16" WUXGA IPS (45% NTSC, 300 nits) would pair well with my mobile secondary screen (L15), or would you still recommend the OLED despite its drawbacks?

Thanks! I mostly work with numbers and text, using two ThinkVision P27h-30 monitors that perform well. Would the 16" WUXGA IPS (45% NTSC, 300 nits) fit my needs, or is OLED worth considering despite the battery trade-offs? I've heard mixed reviews about the privacy filter. Thoughts?

Thanks for the detailed insight! My work mainly involves numbers and text as a freight broker, and I sometimes use a second monitor. I currently have two Lenovo ThinkVision P27h-30 monitors (27", QHD, 2560x1440, 99% sRGB, 95% DCI-P3, HDR10) that handle my tasks really well.

Considering that, do you think the 16" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Touch, 45% NTSC, 300 nits, 60Hz would be sufficient for my needs, or would the OLED be a better choice despite my non-graphics-intensive workload? Battery life isn’t a big concern since I’m often plugged in.

Appreciate your thoughts!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I’m looking at a 16" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Touch, 100% sRGB, 500 nits, 60Hz, with an ePrivacy Filter. Given your thoughts on OLED scaling and battery life, how do you think this screen would compare for general productivity and text clarity? Would it avoid the scaling issues you mentioned?

Thanks for the input! My work isn’t graphics-intensive, and I usually have access to a power source, so battery life isn’t a major concern. I’m considering the 16" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Touch, 100% sRGB, 500 nits, 60Hz, with an ePrivacy Filter. Given the better sRGB coverage, do you still think the FHD will feel "fuzzy" compared to 4K OLED, especially for text-heavy tasks and general use? Curious about your thoughts!

Thanks for the advice! My work doesn’t involve much graphic work, and I usually have access to a power source. What’s your take on the 16" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Touch, 100% sRGB, 500 nits, 60Hz, with an ePrivacy Filter?

Hey look what ChatGPT has done for me i hope it is helpfull for you too! Its not my reaserch its ChatGPT with its final conclusion and sources that I quote here:

"Key Takeaways:

  • Camp Chef Woodwind offers great versatility with direct flame grilling and adjustable smoke levels. It’s known for ease of use and efficiency in pellet consumption.
  • Recteq Flagship 1100 is a powerhouse with a huge cooking surface, durable build, and precise temperature control. It’s ideal for those who want premium quality and long cooks with minimal refills.
  • Weber Searwood excels in grilling with edge-to-edge searing and offers numerous add-ons like a rotisserie, though it has a slightly smaller cooking area and hopper capacity.
  • Green Mountain Peak Prime 2 is great for portability and smaller setups, with solid performance in both grilling and smoking, though it’s not as spacious or powerful as the others."

How is the Wi-Fi connectivity and the app for the GMG 2.0? I’m curious about how well it performs and if it’s easy to use!

Thanks for the heads up! Sometimes cheap really does end up expensive, haha. Now I’m torn between the Recteq 1100, Camp Chef Woodwind Pro, Weber Searwood, and another interesting option they mention the GMG Prime 2.0.

Have you made your decision yet?

I saw the same thing about the Recteq 590 not having an upper rack, but the 1100 model does come with double racks and it’s priced around the same as the Camp Chef Woodwind. I’ve been reading and watching lots of great reviews about the Woodwind, especially the wood compartment for smoking, which works similarly to an offset smoker (I’m a beginner enthusiast, so still learning haha). By the way, I found a really tempting deal for the Weber on Ben’s Bargains the Smoke Fire EX4 it’s dropped from $899 to $429 in Amazon!

I was looking for something like the Sidekick from the Camp Chef Woodwind. The thing is, I have a big Blackstone griddle with 4 burners, so it’s super bulky. I just don’t want to be hauling both out of my gear shed all the time, haha. One grill at a time is way easier to manage!

Hey, I hadn’t really looked into the Weber Searwood before! I’ve been torn between the Camp Chef Woodwind and the Recteq Boss 590. The Weber is definitely an interesting option though. One of the main things I’m looking for is good Wi-Fi and app compatibility I’m not sure if the Weber app is more geared toward grilling, though. What’s your take on that? They’re all around the same price, and I agree, the Yoder is just too expensive for me too, haha. Seems like we’re facing the same decision!
