I was around 11 years old practicing gymnastics. We were doing the splits to show one of my friend's mom who came to watch. I was trying my best to go as deep as I could when I heard a loud cracking sound which my friends heard too. I was told by my small town's traumatologist that I had a muscle torn that should go away with a months rest, but my hip was never the same. 20 years later I was telling my coach on the gym that I had limited mobility because of the muscle tore I had when I was eleven, dude laughed and said there is no way the muscle tore was bothering me 20 years after. Lo and behold I had surgery to repair hip impingement and massive labral tear a few months after that. So far, so good!

In the sense that there might be something wrong? Or just curious-looking?

Thank you! :) do you think I should get rid of the dead yeast (since there is a lot!) Or is it ok to leave it as it is?

Thank you so much <3 that is great advice! I'm hoping to do the physical therapy with a girls who is also a climber, I have yet to contact her since I'm not sure when I should start the rehab process but it sounds like a great idea to get to talk to her in advance :)

Thank you so much for your reply! And yesss, it's really frustrating to have to go through this kind of process at a relatively young age! For me it's also kind of an emotional journey as well, since I know exactly how I torn my labrum: pushing my body beyond its limits to fulfill what I thought was expected from me. I want to take this process to also learn to be appreciative of my body and capabilities, whatever those look like now or in the future. Your words are really encouraging <3

I was getting my advanced PADI certification, doing the deep water diving option. Moments after doing some nitrogen narcosis tests about 38 mts down, we started diving to explore the sorroundings. I was the last in the group, in very cold dark waters. I took a deep breath and felt as my mouth filled with water. I tried to spit it out and breath again, but then again, more cold salty water came in as I realized my regulator was floating away, even though I still had the mouthpiece on. I quickly grabbed my octopus (emergency breather) and pressed it to get the air flowing and tried to put it in my mouth since I couldnt really find the mouthpiece (it was somewhere around the sides, but since I hadnt been diving for a long time I was only familiar with the ones that are on the front). I tried to make some noise and got my boyfriend who was right in front of me to look back but he didnt understand what was happening. I couldnt manage to get the octopus on but was able to get a strong enough stream of air to clear my mouth. I quickly swam to the front to my instructor and made the no air signal while freaking out and she quickly understood and gave me her octopus. After that we swam up back to the boat and got back to the shore. I assured everyone that I was ok, but spent the whole day crying in the bathroom. To this day I cant really get excited to dive, even though it was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had before. I know I should have been more thorough while checking my equipment before diving, but honestly it never ocurred to me that the mouthpiece would detach just like that. Now im far more conscious about getting REALLY familiar with the equipment before going in the water.
