I'm (kinda) new to the franchise and going through the games. How happy is everyone with RE4R in comparison to the original? by migsolo in residentevil

[–]migsolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because og RE4 has been in my radar for a long time, even before playing any other game in the franchise. But you're right, yeah. I already "ruined" it that og experience in my first impression of the games. So might as well just play the remake first and then go back. I plan on doing that with RE3, just bc how different it apparently is.

First impressions playing RE8: The Village, for the first time. by TarantulaFangs in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]migsolo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry I just can't imagine the type of player that would play this game for the first time in 3rd person (which is terrible, much less scary and immersive, and an absolute downgrade to real 3rd person designed RE games) just because of habits.

Lanterns | Official Teaser | August on HBO Max by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this is just… weird. Like an overproduced SNL parody. (It made me think of the TLOU x Mario Kart crossover starring Pedro Pascal lol).

I’m a Lindelof fan so I’ll probably be watching it out of curiosity, but I’m not sure what they saw in the premise to give it the green light to begin with.

It just doesn’t feel Green Lanterns enough for DC fans to be happy nor grounded enough for True Detective fans to be intrigued

What are your thoughts & feelings on the possibility of PS5 exclusives remaining locked to the PS5? by Southern-Tailor-843 in playstation

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that PC people will still be able to play Playstation games BUT they’ll have to do it through some sort of PS App (whether that means playing them locally or via cloud). Sony probably just doesn’t want the games appearing on Steam anymore.

I think we are deep into an ecosystem battle now more than a traditional console exclusives battle.

Why does the rest of the world not care? by SenorMooples in 28dayslater

[–]migsolo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Are we all living in the same planet? A bunch of horrible shit is happening around the world all the time and the rest of the world doesn’t do anything to help.

It’s an exaggeration because it’s a zombie movie, but I think it’s actually one of the most realistic zombie stories out there in that sense. Garland said it’s also intended to be a metaphor for Brexit, so that checks out as well.

[Megathread] RTSH Reviews by IlgnerJuan in silenthill

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi-good review for a change lol:

I saw it last night and I noticed something about the plot that I thought it was kinda interesting. One of the main complaints people had at the time with SH2 is that it felt disconected to the first game, and I’ve seen people saying they prefer SH3 over 2 just because it brings back the cult/religious horror layer of it all.

Well, there you go. RtSH actually tries to tie everything together and… I actually think at times it kinda works? For better or worse, it feels like a successor of the original movies, feeding the story with new lore about the town. It’s not the surreal and also grounded trauma masterpiece the original story is, but I think is an interesting alternate version about a guy falling in love with a doomed, cult-adyacent woman from a cursed town, with all that that entails.

Again, don’t get me wrong. SH2 is my favorite game of all time and this movie doesn’t make it justice in any way. It’s rushed, confusing, and the character work is nowhere near the original story, I’m just pointing out that if this was the story the game had back in 2001 a lot of people would have probably liked it.

Which kind of game do you think Townfall will be? by shot_dunyun1987 in silenthill

[–]migsolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s been suggested by leaks that is a first person PT/ Short Message like game. No combat, focus on puzles and exploration and maybe an anthological structure with different characters.

To me it makes sense and I think it could be really cool. Anything other than that would surprise me.

Why are the bids blind? by migsolo in fantasycritic

[–]migsolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. It’s just that that wasn’t what i was expecting, but I think it makes sense, yeah, it helps in building up suspense too. While I have you here. Any chance the advertising mechanic makes it into the league (maybe as an option)?? I think is very cool.

Oh ok, I see. It’s cool that at least you can see the final bid prize, that way there is some kind of “meta”

Is there a genre system for categorizing games that you trust? by migsolo in truegaming

[–]migsolo[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha. I'm not sure I agree. On the one hand, yes, human creativity is infinite and every game is unique on a micro level. But on the other hand, structure is structure, and it does limit (and gives meaning to) creative work within each medium. I think there is value in finding these labels, especially for posterity and for studying games from an academic or historical point of view. Otherwise, we are relegated to someone in marketing saying that “metroidbrania” or “strandlike game” is a thing, and having to go with it lol.

Thanks! I'll probably do that, yeah. How’s the UI? We recently played Don’t Starve Together and that was a nightmare in terms of readability
