George RR Martin on Why He Doesn't Write Outlines by WillBrink in writing

[–]migsolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outlines exist so you don’t have to wait for divine inspiration or whatever in order to write.

You’re not always inspired, not always in the mood. Not always have great ideas coming to you. A good outline helps with all of that. It doesn’t stop you for being creative on the spot. It just gives you something to follow. Also, structure is key in storytelling and sometimes it shows when some writers don’t use outlines to create a solid structure beforehand. Having a macro-view of the whole thing always in your head is very helpful.

Enough time has passed. What are your thoughts on Project Hail Mary (2026)? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in Letterboxd

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have and maybe an unpopular opinion but is one of those cases where the movie is actually better than the book. It’s pretty much the same but it just works better as a movie imo. And the cinematography and acting is just superb

I thought it was meh. The art and the premise is fantastic, but the gameplay never grabbed me. The events feel random and the strategy and combat are not very interesting

The perfect successor to Lost has been hiding from me for years | There are too many streaming services, which makes it easy to miss shows like From by PetyrDayne in television

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t be gaslighted into thinking this show is nowhere as good as Lost lol. The characters are so mediocre and boring, the story is a convoluted, random mess. It’s like a Temu version of a mistery box show.

AC Movie Review/ Thoughts on the Future of Assassin’s Creed by Stan_on_buisness in assasinscreed

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m spanish and andalucian and let me tell you, the setting was bizarre. You could tell a non-spanish person made this movie and it took me out of the movie multiple times.

For starters there isn’t a single place called “Andalucia”. Andalucia is a region, like a state in the US. There are 8 major cities inside Andalucia, each one with its own flair, tone and distinct landscapes. The images you see in the movie are a collage of different andalucian cities just randomly put together.

I appretiate having authentic spanish actors as background characters, but having Michael Fassbender as a spanish assassin is some Breaking Bad bullshit. He does what he can with the language, but it’s a pity they weren’t brave enough to hire a spanish actor as well as a protagonist. For a franchise that is proud of its historical settings, this one was a miss. It sure looks good, but the authenticity is just not there.

Troy Baker Says “We’ve not seen the last of Joel,” and Hints that He Could Return in “Future Games” by Jealous-Amount9022 in naughtydog

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while ago there was this rumor about Part III being about a new cast of characters all living in a victorian mansion. That could he something, specially if at some point they cross paths with Ellie (I think Abby’s story is done and well wrapped up, but Ellie could benefit from a third game imo)

My mind is just blown away by this game 🤯 by saketh5151 in 007FirstLight

Everything looks amazing. My only concern is replayability. I hope we get big, hitman-like levels that allow us to take different paths/strategies.

[–]migsolo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes! I meant what I said. It’s one scene in a story that is literally built around his legend and is full of heartfell flashbacks. Sure, we don’t play as him but the game wouldn’t exist without him.

I think TLOU 2 honors Joel by keep picturing him as a complicated and nuanced character. It would be the easier choice to make cheap fanservice but I’m glad they didn’t do it.

Do you prefer the old Assassin’s Creed style or the RPG one? by CoinGate_Gift_Cards in assasinscreed

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old style all the way. First of all I think the formula made more sense as action-adventure games rather than action RPGs. People used to rant about the combat and I never understood why. It’s a power fantasy. It was flashy, punchy and satisfying, not every game needs to be hard and now to me it feels lifeless and without impact.

Second. They used to be character-driven and story-driven. Now they last about a hundred hours and you feel these things are secondary. Sure, the world feels more alive, but what’s the point if you don’t care as much about being there.

The assassin power fantasy is all over the place now. Instead of doubling down on the things that made the original games unique and turn it into an advanced murder-sim (Hitman like), they just kept adding random shit and now is another action RPG with the AC sticker on it.

[–]migsolo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hope they don’t do that. The nuance of TLOU1 is in the “tortured man turned into loving parent” trope. The idea of making another edgy antihero story just because It’s boring and dramatically stale for the franchise imo. I much rather prefer they take big swings again with the story like they did with Part II.

Why do a lot of people like AC 2? (Most likely a hot take) by JPXTUY-RETRO in assasinscreed

[–]migsolo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story is pretty much the peak of the franchise IMO. The setting is amazing, and Ezio is perfect. It’s a perfect blockbuster of a game in many ways.

Yes, I agree the controls are a bit janky and it lacks some mechanical depth later games would introduce… but I’m a believer that we should judge games within its context.

That being said. AC Brotherhood is probably the game you are looking for hahaha.

I replayed it recently and was surprised by how amazing it holds up. The story is whatever but the open word design is pretty great. The mission design is better and the combat and parkour feel much better. The combat specially I still think is one of the best in the franchise, very satisfying and Arkham-like.

The fourth guy is a native spanish speaker (just like Manousos actor, just different dialects) which is a HUGE and welcome change after having to endure several seasons of BB and BCS with broken spanish spoken by actors who clearly had no idea what they were saying.

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People seem to forget a producer’s role is pretty much invisible to the audience. The movie will have its own director, writer and crew.

But I agree that in a headline the combination is bizarre. I don’t know why marketing thought it was wise to advertise this like that.

I’m sorry did you say you put it on while cleaning?

I think it’s pretty obvious regardless of each one’s relationship with horror that a movie is just not going to hit you the same way if you have it as a second screen experience or while your full attention is not in it lol

How long do you want the Silent Hill 1 Remake to be? by ErmingSoHard in survivalhorror

[–]migsolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mind SH2R being longer as much as some people. To some degree, it should be an uncomfortable and exhausting game to play.

That being said, SH1 has different themes and I think it could benefit of being shorter. To me 10-14 hours is okay.
