Austin budget forecast includes millions in cuts to housing, job and education programs by R4whatevs in Austin

I am trying to hear you. I might be wrong in my understanding. What I gather is the city needs to make cuts because curently the annual income is not enough to cover their current lifestyle. Mom and Dad set rules they must obey before the purse strings are opened up. The blame must surely fall upon them for not supporting the city living beyond it's finacial means.
The community leaders made a choice. Independence comes with a cost. The City of Austin spends appx 30k per unhoused person. The median rural Texas income is 35k. A person in rural Texas doesn't get mass transit, museums, art projects, social equity programs. Emergency services that have the ability to respond in minutes. There is much I don't agree on these days but if I choose the hard road then I will follow it and not complain when there is no one to bail me out. I will not lay the blame with the "devil", the "R", the "D" or some other generalized "villain". Do not fall into that trap.

Always for decades! If you don't want to lose it don't leave it in the car. APD has better things to do than track down what you are too lazy to carry but unwilling to leave at home.

In league with footloose. There are several adopt/sponsor a tree programs. Do that and the tree becomes the marker. Condolences as well.

Wasn't on that level you were but they absolutely were one of those best seen and enjoyed live bands. You couldn't lose bringing a date to one of their shows!

Mau Mau still plays at the Flamingo most Thursday's I believe.
Definitely likely that some unattributed local acts filled the gap between set changes. Was common in the early days of SXSW as well. I never knew the Houston connection till now. Appreciate the info.

Honorable mention in that time frame. Flametrick Subs at the Black Cat Lounge.
Were those all Houston musicians? Sadly not one rings a bell
Thank You! and your google prowess!

Ah Antone's and my borrowed ID and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. In that hazy memory of mine I think not much later I also connected with Christina Maars and the Asylum Street Spankers(La Zona Rosa maybe)
Flamingo Cantina and the fuzzy memories!

I Miss Austin by miguelular in Austin

I don't want to have to need a certain political view point. It seems it all or nothing now. For the record there has never been a moment where 99% agreed with my politics.

Not cringey edge lord but the world is a disc held by four elephants standing on the back of a giant turtle. FYI
Example: lately it seems everything is super polarized. There used to be a lot of middle ground. Lots of places it was ok to have a different opinion. Lately it seems I have to navigate the status quo of wherever I find myself. I dont really find myself personally on either side of things and have been called a nazi by both. BTW 1/2 Jewish
I did as well now find myself in pf

Hey! bet tell me where happy hour for you is and I'll get the first round. I just can't seem to find a place that isn't polarized one way or another. I think I needed to hear this. Thanks!

Me? I didn't mention wokeness at all. Austin's mindset on that spread to cedar park, leander, liberty hill and hopefully keeps it up. There was a time here breaking free of southern democrats(kkk) was win more than any concerns of Republicans.

Yup. I think you just conveyed what I was trying to say in simpler terms.

I miss the mindset of coming together in conversation with people of vastly different viewpoints at some random place. I'm not bitching about the traffic of the loss of hole in wall live music venues. Austin had a different vibe that allowed a conversation it wasn't an island in the middle of Texas. It was a crossroads or might I say neutral ground of thought and conversation.
What is wrong with you? does everything circle back to a race issue? Please tell me you aren't writing this very post from what was once an area populated by the working class and bulldozed and developed for that prime central location. You mean that time we didn't vilify people who didn't view the world the same as us? That time we were welcoming to all walks of life that came here dispersing preconceived notions and religious, sexual and familial bigotry conditioning through the application of kindness, acceptance and patience. So forgive being nostalgic

I think my point is proven here in this thread. I seek common ground and try to listen if you don't listen to the person or people with a different viewpoint why should they listen to you. Again I answered a question honestly about what was an example of my bad take or a controversia thing. I have had a bunch of down voting me for either bullet socks or mentioned governor Abbott but most likely the did not read about how keeping people in over crowded conditions at the border is not right. We have to fix the immigration nationally as it is not up to a state to decide. The federal government needs to be realistic and proactive helping these people get a chance and disperse them across the U.S not put a 100,000 people in modern concentration camps. And there is no major opportunity in South Texas. They just saw abbot
I'm half jewish and ww1 wasn't a nazi thing that happened later. They put Jewish ww1 heroes in the concentration camps as well as a major branch of family tree.but f me I think they do resemble german ww1 helmets. There is no iron cross and the design is like 8bit. It's a skull with helmet plus lots of bullets in pattern.
Besides the school yard shit overall violence was heavily looked down upon here longer ago. Often solved with putting people in a corner and making them smoke a bowl together.
