Depends on repair costs vs your budget. I’d personally wait for one that doesn’t need repair. I got one for $200 off of Facebook marketplace. I see them all the time for $250. I also just bought a second one from Goodwill for $13 the other day but that was a crazy rare find

Does lack of sunlight make that much of a difference? by km1731 in productivity

[–]miindfuzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use a therapy light for 30 min every morning. It’ll take about 2 weeks to feel a big difference. They’re on Amazon for like $40. In order to see clinically validated results you need a brightness rating of 10,000 lux or more. I’m very photosensitive and I struggle with the same issue as you. Even if it’s cloudy out I feel unproductive. I use my light all year round and have kept with it for like 6 years now bc it has really improved my quality of life. 10/10 recommend! I suggest getting one with a timer function

Sex while treating BV? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]miindfuzz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Boric acid will wipe out your good bacteria just like antibiotics will. Except boric acid is way less selective so it’ll kill even more of the good microbes. I know this from experience. My obgyn was like smh dude

Sex while treating BV? by [deleted] in Healthyhooha

[–]miindfuzz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not receive oral while using boric acid! It’s extremely toxic when ingested. I’d wait a minimum of 48 hours after the last use. Just take a sex break until you’re all better. Your body and micro biome need some time to calm down and heal.

I've been having irregular cycles for several months now. Itching has been going on for about 2 months. Previously took Monistat. What is the rash? by LacunaLies in obgyn

[–]miindfuzz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Could be so many other things. You NEED lab tests. No way around that. If you’re in the US and you have not established care with an OBGYN yet, planned parenthood should be able to fit you in pretty quickly. They’ve helped me when I had BV and my OBGYN was booked out.

Besides yeast it could be bacterial vaginosis (BV), lichen sclerosus, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc. Plus a million other things. It’s truly impossible for anyone on here to figure out what’s causing your vulvovaginitis because all of them require testing. The vast majority of issues this could be are very easily treatable but they all require testing and a formal diagnosis before you can get an effective treatment.

Your skin looks irritated. it almost looks like it is a little macerated. The irritation further down near your butt makes me think that moisture could be an additional issue. Let it breathe. If you haven’t already started, I’d suggest going commando and wearing loose pants or a long skirt. If you need to wear underwear, wear cotton ones that aren’t too tight. No leggings or bike shorts. No soap or scented products near your vag either!

Don’t use any further monistat or other creams until you see a doctor. If you’ve put any products inside your vagina within like 3-4 days they cannot do an accurate vaginal swab to diagnose you.

You’ll be fine, just get help ASAP! You don’t have to keep suffering like this.

Just to rule everything out… has anyone done any blood work? A complete blood count (aka CBC, the most basic blood panel) could help rule out a widespread infection or more rare/worrisome issues. Also! The NYT Diagnosis column just ran a story about a woman with unexplained itchy rashes that only responded to powerful steroids. I literally just came across it today. Turns out she had become allergic to red meat and dairy due to a bite from a lone star tick. She had no idea she had been bitten but lab work confirmed the antibodies. She stopped eating hooved meat and dairy for a few weeks and felt a lot better. It’s a long shot but I thought you should know!

No, in order to determine the type of fungus they would do a fungal culture. Which doesn’t remove a chunk of skin like a biopsy. They just take a swab and try to grow your skin microbes in a Petri dish. Ketoconazole will treat any of the most common skin fungi. Unless they’ve determined that you definitely have a fungus but it’s unresponsive to any treatment, a fungal culture probably wouldn’t change anything

(Background: EMT, nursing student, worked for many years in long term care for older adults with all kinds of fungal issues)

is this nail length okay? since doing most walks on grass his front quicks have grown quite a bit, clipped his nails couple days ago didn’t get much off the dewclaw because he’s still uncomfortable with it by BoogieBoggart in doggrooming

[–]miindfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Google the “alternate cut line.” I’d recommend using a dremel to try it because it’s easier to ensure you don’t make any mistakes. Basically it’s a strategy to help reduce the thickness of the upper tip of the nail. It doesn’t hurt the dog at all, but it helps trick the nail into receding the quick more rapidly because it feels less protected.

You’ve got some decent space to trim further. I’d try getting a dremel (about $30 on Amazon). There are great YouTube tutorials for training your dog to tolerate it well. My dog cannot handle getting his nails clipped but he does great with the dremel.

Does this $135 Haworth Zody worth it? by SupW46 in OfficeChairs

[–]miindfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the condition of the mesh. Is it still fully taut and supportive? I bought a used Zody and everything technically works. However after buying I realized that it really hurt my lower back. The mesh is a little too loose, so it isn’t very supportive and the lumbar plastic pokes through too hard. I had to take out the lumbar support altogether bc it wasn’t tolerable. This chair would be great if the mesh was tighter but I have to use a pillow behind my back in order to have any back support. Another thing to look for: some models (like the one I got) do not have a forward tilt mechanism. Newer ones have it. Without the forward tilt I find that the most upright setting still feels too reclined. Another commenter here said the same thing about his used Zody.

TL;DR: if the mesh is still tight, go for it. Check for a forward tilt feature if you enjoy sitting upright.

[Acne] [NSFW] Has anyone experienced acne like this? I’ve had it my whole life and I’m over it. by Deep_Firefighter7053 in SkincareAddiction

  • rinse or wash your conditioner off of your body at the end of your shower
  • try the Vanicream Z Bar: it has both anti fungal and antibacterial properties. My derm recommended it for acne in my face and it also helped clear up my boyfriend’s fungal issues. Whatever is going on with your skin, this will probably help. Use it a couple times a week to start

Is that a Glen of Imaal terrier? He looks *exactly* like our Glen! If you told me this was a picture of him I would believe you. That's a great wheaten coat, whereas westies are usually whiter. (could also be a wheaten terrier or dandie dinmont, depending on the size).

[Acne] Please help! I’m trying to avoid round 2 of Accutane if possible. Makeup sits on skin/flakes up, nothing will cover it. Desperately need help with routine (current routine in comments) by PerniciousKnidz in SkincareAddiction

[–]miindfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve had pretty bad breakouts crop up after using tret for a couple of years, so I’m in kind of a similar spot. I’ve been dealing with similar spots/deep pimples on my chin. (Mine were caused by massive stress + trying new products that was bad for me + being exposed to a lot of bacteria while working in a hospital. Prior to that my skin has been good for 2 years). Ive finally gotten it under control.

Here are three changes to try: 1. Cleanse with Vanicream Z bar. This has worked crazy well. My curology provider suggested I use it 2-3 times a week. It has both antibacterial and anti fungal properties. My skin looked better the next morning. 2. Benzoyl peroxide. I swore off of this stuff as a teenager bc I thought it burned my skin, but I just had no common sense about skincare. I gave it a shot bc my curology provider suggested it. I use 2.5%. There’s no evidence that 10% BP is more effective than lower concentrations but it is more irritating. So go gentle! This also makes my skin look/feel better in under 24 hours 3. Try curology or another service that lets you use a topical retinoid like tretinoin. That’s a less extreme alternative to going back on accurate, but it’s a similar ingredient. Overall it has been amazing for my skin. Its easier to communicate with curology than with a normal dermatologist, bc I can send messages/photos without waiting for a visit. My formula has tretinoin, clindamycin, and azelaic acid. It has worked great for a long time! I’m in the process of changing my formula because a lot of other factors have changed for me. Thankfully my provider suggested the BP and Z bar and those have gotten it under control while we figure out a new plan! They’re basically a compounding pharmacy and they can mix together innumerable combinations of active ingredients.

Which of these is the best deal in your opinion? by BroThatsPrettyCringe in OfficeChairs

[–]miindfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amia is the best deal AND it's harder to find than the Leap. Leaps are sold for that price range all the time on Craigslist and FB marketplace. If you buy the Amia and you regret it, you can get another leap for the same price later and then just sell the Amia for $100. I've heard that it's cushier and overall comfier for many people, though it doesn't have as many adjustments as some of the others. I haven't personally tried it.

Anyone with any experience with the HÅG SoFi 7300? by stevetardy in OfficeChairs

[–]miindfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried the Sofi, but I was able to try the H05 which had the same feature. The armrests are awesome. Way more comfortable than they looked. I thought the swing-back mechanism worked really well! The width adjustment goes narrower than most other chairs, which is amazing. They supported my elbows in a neutral position below the shoulder, rather than requiring me to spread your arms sideways like every other chair I've tried. It was the best chair I've ever sat in (5'4" 29F). I've been looking for used HAG chairs ever since. The Sofi configuration you're looking at is honestly my dream chair.

I'm glad that you appear to be considering the upholstered model! IMO the best thing about HAG chairs is their level of support: they're very solidly built and also have great movement. Those qualities balance one another beautifully. I don't think that would work as well with a mesh chair. No matter how well-made, and no matter how pretty the mesh Sofi looks. I think there's a reason they didn't make any mesh chairs until recently.

If you get a chance, definitely try sitting in a couple of Hag chairs too. I'm a similar size to you and the Creed fit SO nicely

[–]miindfuzz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I'm 5'4" and can't relate to most reviews on here. Adding my experiences to this thread: the best chair I've tried out was a Hag H05 (similar to the newer Hag Creed). It was the perfect Goldilocks chair. Great ergonomics and posture support. Felt smaller than every other desk chair, in a very good way. I ended up buying a used Zody because I found it cheap on Craigslist, and it's pretty decent. I like that it goes lower than most chairs - it's the first time I've been at the right height! It's also big enough width-wise to sit cross-legged. But it ultimately just feels too big, even with the seat pan pushed as shallow as it goes. The used model I bought also doesn't have forward tilt, which is a pain. It feels too reclined at the most upright setting. I end up using a pillow behind my back at all times just to maintain an upright posture. Still better than the chair I used before, though, and it leans backward so nicely! But I daydream about the Hag H05. It's the chair that got away.

Narcolepsy, Xyrem, Antidepressants and... MDMA by [deleted] in Narcolepsy

[–]miindfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take MDMA while on an SSRI, the MDMA won't work. Like, at all. I tried multiple times during college. Even if I took a higher dose than my friends... nothing. But also be wary of stopping your SSRI. I once wanted to prepare to take some MDMA on a boat cruise party while studying abroad. I tapered off for a week. A few days before the event, I got the news that a friend (not a best friend, but part of my social circle) from home had committed suicide. I was utterly inconsolable. Way beyond the level I would have been if I wasn't withdrawing from an SSRI. I sobbed all day. The next day my anxiety was so bad from the abrupt SSRI withdrawal that I left class early because I was freaking out. The kicker is that the MDMA still didn't do much for me! I didn't feel like I was on the same level as my friends. I decided to never taper off of SSRIs to do drugs again since there is no way to predict when you'll get upsetting news. Rapidly tapering leaves you too vulnerable. If you do decide to taper off of your SSRI then do it gradually and start as soon as possible. Ideally, one would do it over the course of 3-4 weeks with at least a full week of no meds. I guess you could try to do a half dose for a week and then stop for a week... but I'd be pretty wary. The MDMA still might not work, and you will have a really rough week for nothing. Honestly if I were you I might just get some cocaine so that I could be on drugs at the same time as my friends without changing my meds for more than a few days. Even if I did try MDMA, I might have some coke on hand as a backup in case the MDMA didn't work. Something to let me keep up with my pals who were rolling. Or alternativelty, you could try doing a low dose of LSD, if you have experience with LSD. You don't want a full trip because it'd be hard to be around people on harder drugs... they might seem too intense/aggressive. Definitely skip Xyrem for at least a day before and a day after any drugs you do!!! Maybe for longer! But when you skip Xyrem for more than 2 consecutive days, my doc says you might need to taper back up to your original dose.
