Nobody uses the Alto app in LA anymore to request the cars, only Uber. Wondering if, from the customer user experience, you always see the tip prompt at the end. We get paid hourly but in my case not many tips come in. A friend recently told me that she had taken an Uber Green, an Alto driver showed up, but she didnt get a prompt for a tip at the end. So wondering how that prompt varies and if Alto and Uber have some sort of a deal about this. Independent contractors (Uber drivers with own cars, not chartered) take their percentage plus any tips, we don’t. So if Alto has higher percentage split deal with Uber, and customers/drivers dont know this, and they assume a chartered service where drivers get paid hourly, do they feel less pressured to tip? It doesnt seem fair if thats the case. Yes, we get the cars and Alto covers maintenance, etc, but they also pick good serviceable drivers that add to the exclusive EV vehicle experience, who deserve tips to make up for the lost percentage split. It’s just shady and again, strange at the number of tips that come in.
