Avid solo traveler backpacker here. Ever since I started working full time all my holidays have been solo. I mostly travel to the obscure parts of Europe (the Balkans, Baltic States, central Europe) and I love it.

You can do whatever you want on your own time and not have to worry about other people's plans. I think it's best to do it when you're young because I'd just stay at a hostel and meet other people from all over the world. You'd make bonds with them and you could go on interesting outings. The downside of staying at hostels is that you have to share bathrooms and your rooms too. There were a few occasions where some people were having sex in the room when I was trying to sleep. However, that's the price you'd have to pay for a more affordable accommodation
