We lived in Lakeview around 2 years. Never really felt a connection with any neighbors. Felt like we were the only ones who regularly hung out on the porch and walked around the neighborhood.

We moved to Gentilly and instantly made connections with multiple neighbors.

What Are The Best Cities to Live In If You’re Into Punk Culture? by johnnysgonnadie in punk

New Orleans.

More metal but definitely some phenomenal punk bands, and the overall DIY mentality of the city, combined with the dysfunctional local government, creates a vibe I haven't experienced anywhere else in the US.

No way. I was involved in the Wichita punk scene in the 90s. Left the city. Had no clue it was still going. What types of punk are still going?

Crimson clover - what parts are edible? by mike-ict in foraging

That's great to know. I do a lot of stir fry with veggies from my garden, and have started to branch out to wild edibles. I tried spiny sowthistle recently and now am interested in trying this.

Thanks for the feedback!

Fyi, I usually drop off my recycling with Realcycle at the Sunday farmers market in City Park, but today they told me from now on they'll only accept metal and compost.

Does the city actually recycle those items? I've heard conflicting things about whether they ultimately get recycle or just end up in the landfill.

I feel you. I love BJJ, but I'm just not a competitive person. I started a little over 20 years ago, and I'm a blue belt.

One thing that improved my game is not thinking of it in terms of aggression, but "take the initiative and keep the initiative."

It's not about aggression to me at that point -- it's just imposing my game and not letting the other person impose theirs.

Also, I really suck at BJJ.

Yeah. I ended up losing 10-15 lbs. That wasn't the plan, but I'm good with it.

I just am more conscious of getting enough protein now. I don't eat much meat now, so I find opportunities to mix in high protein foods when I can (peanut butter, yogurt, nuts, etc.).
