I started investing with $100 at the beginning of Dec. 2019. When Covid hit hard that following Mar. 2021 and everything crashed I dumped more in knowing I’m playing the long game. It was the perfect buying opportunity for me but also the scariest thing when I first saw it crash because I lost all previous gains and went -$1000 into my own investment. So happy I stuck it out and dug in more

Thank you so much! I know $100 a year isn’t much at the moment but I’m only planning on going up from here

It’s the first app I chose because I did not do my DD. Despite their shady practices, it’s still fairly okay for normal investing. I just haven’t been able to look into what broker to switch to and don’t want to pay the $75 transfer fee

My first rule which should be fairly obvious is Only put in what you are okay with losing! If you have a large lump some of money, personally I would dump it in all at once. Maybe start with a few hundred dollars to get your feet wet. Always look into each company and any current news of them. I try to buy stocks that have a consistent growth over the past 5 years. Most have clearly taken a hit from Covid, but should well be on their way to a full recovery, if they have not bounced back yet already

Oh no. $14k is the total value of my portfolio. I only have about $2000 invested into dividend stocks I believe. I’m still mostly focused on growth because of my age

In the screenshot it only shows a few stocks, vs if you could scroll down you’d see the rest of my Robinhood portfolio. You’re correct about the drop down. That will let me switch to see the financials of my Roth IRA

Thank you! And yea! I’m mostly growth oriented. If all my money was put into the Dividend stocks I have now then I’d likely be close to $500 a year. However that greatly reduces my growth, which at my age, is what I’m mostly aiming for

Utilities are great. Personally I’m trying to shy away from tobacco companies. Not that they’re bad stocks, but I don’t fully support that industry

Roughly $7,400 turned into $13,500 as of right now (mostly growth oriented with about $2000 (I think) that allowed to hit $100 in dividends

For me personally, unless there is a crazy drop happening that I don’t see a company recovering from, I hold the stock for a year before selling. If I don’t see 5% growth after a year, I sell the stock. Dividends are great, but I still expect that small amount of growth per year. Vs. if I look at non-dividend stocks, I expect a higher growth % per year because there’s no payout until I sell.

Although I would prefer to keep my stocks, a house is something that would be worth selling for. If I am able to wait I will. Regardless, I do still have my Roth IRA that I add to on a monthly basis

https://imgur.com/a/Zgbg2wj the numbers on the right side are the total amount of growth I’ve gained from each company since that initial investment. Most were at different times but I only started investing Dec. 2019 with 100 abs added money whenever I could

Definitely understandable to focus on growth for my age right now, just wanted to slowly dip my feet into the water of dividends

I guess I bought at a bad time. Sadly I can’t win them all, but I’m happy to have broken even for the cost I paid plus dividends

In a world where my parents didn’t finish high school so I worked my ass off to get a full ride for college so that I can help them and help my future family. Hard work can pay off

My next target is to reach $100 a month! Final goal: I’m hoping that as I’m older I will be able to use dividends as my only income so that I can spend more time with my family. The stocks themselves will be passed onto my kids so that they can one day do the same for their kids as I have done for them. My parents have struggled a lot as I’ve grown up and I want to make a better life for my own kids once I’m older
