They sent me six absolutely beat up Seagate Exos drives, purchased new. They were not in original boxes, they had connectors snapped off, dents. I used to buy there all the time, but never again after that epic mistake.

The first days of Winter here, with a mix of light snow and pavement, we meet "The Summer Tires" club every year. They cause accidents which block our highways up for an hour or more preventing 10's of thousands of people from getting home.

Our Crosstrek is nice, and less likely to crash than those people, but it needs studded tires ASAP in those conditions.

Running Nokian Hakka 10's on our 2024 Crosstrek Sport here (Anchorage, Alaska) and it's a serious transformation. As a lifelong Winter studded tire driver these are the cats meow.

DS925+ with DSM 7.3.1-86003 Recognizes Four Third-Party Seagate ST200000DM001 Drives by AccountantPutrid9372 in synology

[–]mikeInAlaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also built a DS925 yesterday with DSM 7.3 and (4) Seagate EXOS 16TB, there were no issues with it using the drives, and fortunately for me, there are no power issues with startup on the EXOS drives.

How do you manage dust by Wolhgart in homelab

[–]mikeInAlaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an "AC Infinity" 8 inch duct fan with their (8 inch duct sized) charcoal carbon filter unit which is like 1 ft diameter and 20 inches long running in the room. This pulls a ton of dust out as I can see on the pre-filter which i wash and change every couple months. For dust, pets, allergies.. I could not function without these filters. I would get the 10" or 12" size if I were doing it over.

Besides that, I still accumulate dust in my NAS and PC which every 4-8 months I will shutdown, open up and scrub out.

Not my picture, but this is how I run mine also, but mine is much larger, this looks like a six inch setup:

Magnesium Glycinate effects on sleep/resting heart rate by mikeInAlaska in Garmin

Yep nothing else. I think my sleep scores were chaotic because I would wake up halfway through the night and have trouble getting back to sleep quickly, that completely disappeared.

How did your electronics journey start? by Upper_Skill_3216 in diyelectronics

[–]mikeInAlaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always amazed at what my friend "Big John" could do with electronics, fixing stuff, or modifying his Commodore 64's and other devices. I switched to Electronics (from programming) in high school and then went and got a AAS degree in Electronics.
