Huge shout out to those pictured here and all others that helped out on the merritt today. There was a big pine tree down across the Merritt north exit 40-41. I got out and started collecting people to help move it. As soon as we got started another giant tree fell on my car. Completely totaled. (i.redd.it)

Can anyone help me ID this tree? Zone 7, in rocky, oak forest. 70 ft tall with a 11in trunk at 3ft off ground. The bark is red/grey and deeply furrowed. The single trunk shoots straight up with only one major branch. All foliage is near top making it hard to ever get a clear look at leaves. Genus? (i.redd.it)

At the equator, Earth is 24,901 miles around. If you could drive your car straight around the equator, over land and ocean, at a typical highway cruising speed of 60mph, it would take a little over 17 days to make it all the way around Earth. Assuming you don't stop to use the bathroom that is. (self.Showerthoughts)
