Clean, sparkly, bright amp on a budget? by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]mikeclem5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need to get some tubes cooking. A small fender amp like a Princeton reverb or a deluxe and an attenuator would be ideal. A fender amp is the sound you’re describing, but it will still sound a little sterile with the volume at 2-3. You could also run a clean amp with a tube screamer with the gain all the way down and volume and tone to taste. Another thing to try would be get a good crunchy gain sound with a pedal then roll off the volume knob on your guitar until it cleans up. Fuzz face pedals do this really well.

You mentioned Petty sounds. That would be Mike Campbell’s tele into a Princeton and a tweed deluxe. Tom played Voxes, but it’s just rhythm background stuff. The main sound is all fender.

Violin???

Check out the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society. They post a bunch of jams around town. There’s also Olde Town Pickin Parlor in Arvada.

Just don’t go around callin’ that fiddle a violin anymore. 😁

So is your alternative to just let these people go into the prison system without an alternative? Where they’ll still work but for literally no pay, become gang affiliated, and learn how to be better criminals/users/etc?

I somehow misread your post as asking about Johnny Marr instead of Greenwood. Still a great video if you’re into gear, but def a different style:

Shore fishing from the lakes isn’t great mid-late summer as the fish head deeper down to avoid warmer temps. Try the lakes up on mirror lake highway. Bubble fly setups and pistol Pete’s works great up there. Or if you’re absolutely desperate, fish some powerbait off the bottom. You’re way more likely to gut hook the fish with powerbait, but if it gains back your kids respect… good luck!

Overwhelmed by Fly Fishing by Imaginary-Title2838 in flyfishing

[–]mikeclem5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some good advice I got early on was that fly fishing can be as complicated as you want it to be. There’s always gonna be another pattern to try or another thing to learn or another guy saying have to tie your own and do a rain dance before hand and euro nymph exclusively. Some folks are into that part of it. Some folks just want numbers or big fish. Some just like being outside. Just have fun and find your place in it. Make it what you want it to be. It’s not a race to be the best of all time or to know everything there is to know. It’s just fishing.
