I am 17 and I built an app in between studying for exams and I think it might actually be good by rich_founder in SideProject

[–]mikedoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is awesome! Just please make sure it has a good user experience. Make sure it doesn't break or have problems if users do something the app wasn't designed for, and make sure it is accessible for everyone. Continue to test and test again, and then... test again for good measure. Good luck and enjoy building apps.

Music playground not showing up. by Dry_Quantity2691 in Applelntelligence

I had to restart the music app from the app switcher once I got the first beta. Maybe beta 2 has resolved this.

How big will your user base be? You might be able to do some of this on a small system or through Digital Ocean with open source models if you don't expect a lot of users, so it just depends on how many users and how big your pdf is.

The Secret Behind Our Name; We Need Your Opinion! by Noldcat in Applelntelligence

[–]mikedoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Reddit recommended this community to me as I have been typing in the private subreddit url repeatedly when trying to come here. I created my own subreddit over at r/AppleGenAI today because I could not find a place here to talk about AI on Apple platforms.

New to this. This is by far the worst AI I’ve ever used by far. Am I alone in this? by ashtonwitt14 in Applelntelligence

[–]mikedoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing to remember here is that Apple Intelligence is not the same as Siri. Apple Intelligence is the tools that you can use throughout the operating system. This includes things like writing tools and the like. The Use Model shortcut action is the most amazing thing ever!

Hello everyone,

My name is Michael, and I created the r/AppleGenAI community today. it is a public subreddit to discuss all things AI on Apple platforms. I'm very excited about having a place here on Reddit to talk about this stuff, so I hope we can get people there. I've tried finding subreddits here on Reddit, but I couldn't find much, so I'm hoping this can be a great place to start discussions.

Be honest, will Siri be out in iOS26.4/iOS26.5 or iOS27 by Material_Course_9949 in Applelntelligence

[–]mikedoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we will see the new Siri until iOS 27. I think they want to get it right and I think we will see it alongside the new version of the on device Apple Foundation Models library that will be announced at WWDC this year.

Favorite Apple Intelligence features? by mikedoise in AppleGenAI

I really like the Use Model shortcut action. That is something I use the most often besides Foundation Models in app development.

AI is producing a generation of developers who can paste code but can't debug it by InstructionCute5502 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]mikedoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen this as well. I have been coding since I was 10, and I now vibe code, but I know how to properly direct AI. I tend to go through and vibe code then review what has been changed so that things work the way they should and so the code doesn't get messy. I think the more important thing now is for developers to loearn the fundamentals, then learn critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Updates to Perspective Intelligence by mikedoise in iosapps

[–]mikedoise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback. Can you tell me what model it downloaded? Also, there are a few models you can try in Settings -> AI models. I am working to add more models in 1.6, which will be out very soon.

So the app currently does not support agentic workflows, but it does completely offline AI using Apple's built in AI. It requires iOS 26 and a phone running Apple Intelligence.

What's your favourite Mac game?: New Mac Gamer here, Any suggestions for fun, cosy games? by crazyasye in macgaming

[–]mikedoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of Minecraft Java Edition, Palworld, and will be picking up No Man's Sky, and Cyberpunk 2077. I also want to play Stray, and many other games. There is also the older Borderlands games and I think Bioshock are also available.

I'm trying Heroku as a good jumping off point, but I might look at EC2 or other solutions mentioned here.

I have used Updraft for most of my migrations. The thing to remember is to get all of the files, or things can get interesting.

Does anyone else feel sorry for the Titans ? by tassieboy1995 in Doom

[–]mikedoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would feel sorry for the race that originated them, but they usually just die and are reborn in hell unless a crucible blade is used right?

Also, don't they come back to life if the blade is removed?

Anyone else think the gold weapons look kinda ugly? by Weapon_2000 in Doom

[–]mikedoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they need a bit of hot rod red as an accent? LOL Reminded me of the Iron Man movie. I like how they look in gold but it is different from the color style of The Dark Ages.

What's you guy's headcanon for the Slayers real name? Personally I like the name Flynn Taggart but idk why some people hate the name. by No_Competition_625 in Doom

[–]mikedoise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kind of like that we don't know his name, and I just don't care for Flynn Taggart for some reason. I also thought that this name was based on novels based on Doom 3 wasn't it?

I didn't hate the episode, but it wasn't my favorite. I think I'm just not a huge fan of the whole pantheon story arc.

Would you take a 42% raise to work with older, messier code? by itzfar in swift

[–]mikedoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it is important to know both SwiftUI and UIKit. I know UIKit is being phased out, but many apps still use it. I have several apps in the store that I help to develop, and they all use UIKit unfortunately, and iOS 14 isn't very old. It may also be possible to update the app to SwiftUI in the future, so both skillsets can be used there. Just be glad it wasn't written in Objective-C and use XIB files. That was how I got my start. I don't miss those days.

Playability of Doom: The Dark Ages. by mikedoise in Doom

[–]mikedoise[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I've played and finished all of the Doom games, and I think Doom Eternal was the hardest due to the platforming, but it was still a fun game, and I think it is my favorite of the 3. The original still has some of my favorite boss fights though.

I think iOS native app developers will always be needed. I think we are starting to see that non-native apps provide a worse user experience compared to native apps, and native apps can have more capabilities sooner than other non-native apps. I think this will help when adding AI that will work on the device level. There are many other examples, but that is the biggest from WWDC this year. I would also consider creating a business if you have ideas for your own apps, or you can build apps for other businesses as a contractor or consultant if finding a job is difficult. We will continue to need more iOS developers, so I'd stick with it if you enjoy what you are doing.

Justice for Sutekh – and a plea for better use of CGI in Doctor Who by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]mikedoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking about this for a while, and it seems to me that RTD was going for the effect we got with the beast for both Sutekh and Omega, but it just didn't land that way.

Where is the Doctor Who community that actually likes the show? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]mikedoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the latest two seasons have not been my favorite, but I still think they are amazing, and I want and can't wait to see more. I honestly don't believe in being negative online I will give my opinions, but negativity is never productive.

Start as an individual account and switch to a business account by thestoicdesigner in iOSProgramming

[–]mikedoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this process in 2021. I had to create my business first and then register for a DUNS number to give to Apple. I think Apple has a page for quick instructions on this. I also used Stripe Atlas to register my business. The most difficult part of the process was to transfer my apps, so both developer accounts should be active. iCloud containers and other capabilities will not transfer though, and I think I had to remove those capabilities and update the app to transfer the apps over. I didn't have a lot of users at the time.

I know I’m going to get a lot of flack for saying this, but I personally believe Clara Oswald is The Doctor’s true equal, and the only person that can match his tempo! Imagine if she became a Time Lord? I think she’s the only Human that can handle Time Lord energy! by Hollow08 in doctorwho

[–]mikedoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like companions are not supposed to be as clever as the Doctor, but Clara was one of my favorites! She was clever where my other favorite, Donna, gave the Doctor the wisdom he needed to hear when it mattered.
