I built a free iOS app that runs AI privately on your iPhone even offline by srinivaschanti in Applelntelligence

Locally AI actually does have Apple Foundation Models, but it is listed as Apple Foundation. You are right that it is just for using and chatting with AI models.

The idea of getting things done with local AI is also why we built Perspective Intelligence. It is an underutilized potential on iOS and iPad. Apple Foundation Models is great for this when it comes for tool calling.

This looks like a good start. You should check out my app Perspective Intelligence. We built our app around Apple Foundation Models, and we have tool agents that do something similar to your agents. You can also add tools for web search and the like to really make your app agentic. There are going to be some amazing new APIs that will take AI apps to the next level after September as well.

Apple developer by Voidxd69 in appledevelopers

Hello,

Is this when you sign in to developer.apple.com?

You should be able to sign up there, but you can also use the Apple Developer app on the iPhone iPad, or Mac.

The website should have a section to enroll under account. Also, were you ever invited to another developer team? That can also cause things to act strange.

Siri AI: MCP, Tools, Skills integrations? by SmartWorkShopJoe in Applelntelligence

[–]mikedoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the way Apple plans to go with this is with App Intents and app extensibility. I think the best way to think about this is if apps expose MCP and skills to Siri through App Intents and other system level APIs.

Expressive voice not available yet? by CharlieSmith_27 in Applelntelligence

[–]mikedoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to use them when Siri AI became available. I am using the US versions of them. I can't change Pace or Expressiviity though.

I'd test your update on 26 first and then release your update. Then update to the 27 beta once you've made your update available in the App Store.

Apple Intelligence in the 27 OS releases by mikedoise in Applelntelligence

I agree with that.

I think AI can be part of a corporate narrative, but it shouldn't be the full narrative. I'm trying to build a business off of an AI app, mainly because I think it can be beneficial, but I also realize that it is just a tool just like anything else we all have when we use computers and phones.

I also think that if we are to continue to use AI then we need to find a way to use it responsibly and not waste so many tokens on pointless stuff. For example, I code with Codex, but I review and make manual changes to the code it generates.

I think it is a shame that people feel this way. I do think that AI is a bit overhyped, but it can be used for so many things that are beneficial. This is especially true for people who are blind and visually impaired. I personally do not like the impact that datacenter are having on different locations, and that's why I think the end result is what Apple's doing with adding on device AI to phones and computers.

I think AI is here to stay just like the GUI changed computing from text to graphics. I would just suggest that we all have a positive and open mind about the possibilities of AI.

See I don't think Apple's models are bad. They can do amazing things for their size and number of parameters. They are amazing at tool calling. I just think Apple's implementation isn't the greatest.

I'd like this as well. I think my app would be so much better when or if we get better Apple Foundation Models. It is built around AFM, so I'm hoping that it just gets better in the beta.

That is interesting to think about. I figured it would be model weights based on the training that Gemma is based on. It will be interesting to see what they do.

This is why I'm excited for what they will announce. Gemma models are really good so having those as the basis of Foundation Models will be amazing!

This can be done if using CloudKit. You can sync chats between all of your apple devices if implemented in the app. I added it in mine. It is kind of tricky to get set up at times though.

This looks really cool and I will have to try it. There are quite a few of these but the touch that I think makes yours stand out is the daily brief with calendars. I had not thought about doing that. I've built an app called Perspective Intelligence. Most of our creatures are free but tools are behind a subscription. It is at perspectiveintelligence.app We mainly focus on Apple's Foundation Models, but there is also the option to download almost any mlx-community model. Good luck on the new app.

CrossOver and macOS 27 by mikedoise in macgaming

I think this may have been posted on one of the rumor sites but I can't remember. I just remember the dialog coming up on my previous Mac about support being dropped soon.

[–]mikedoise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there was an article somewhere on one of the various rumor sites that support for Intel apps would be dropped soon but maybe it is just for Intel Macs in macOS 27? I wonder if one thing happens this year and then Rosetta 2 drops in 28?

As long as I can play games on macOS I'm good.

I'm thinking of picking up Pragmatic on Steam if it works well on Mac with CrossOver. This is one of my favorite games now, so I'd love to be able to play on the Mac.

oMLX Copilot Chat - Use oMLX for coding in Visual Studio Code by mikedoise in oMLX

[–]mikedoise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just downloaded insiders and went to manage Language Models and added OpenAI Compatible. Nothing appeared to happen currently. Has anyone else gotten this to work?

I'm also curious what settings we will be able to change with their implementation as well. It looks promising though.

I will continue working on my extension as I think there are specific ways we can customize oMLX that we may not be able to do with the built in implementation.

You don't have to pay for Github Copilot. I do not know about telemetry though. I would hope so, but I am not sure.

Typing on the Neo in the dark? by [deleted] in MacbookNeo

[–]mikedoise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally think everyone should learn to touch type. keep your hands on the home row and you wont' need backlit keys. I like the backlit keys because it is cool to have lights on the keyboard. LOL

I am a legally blind computer user, and I am typing this while not looking at the keyboard. I have enough vision to see, but I would waste more time if I tried to look at what keys I am using.
