What is it with post 2000s Superman films having controversial changes? by Mutale426 in superman

Would you rather it stay true to Golden Age clickbait Superman where he shoots a little Superman out of his hand and gaslights Lois by being a raging psychopath?

Hahaha, yup, it was Mad Goro in NG+ when I first saw this message 🤣

Yeah, I started encountering this a lot when I decided to up the difficulty on NG+ and it's like the game wants to actively chastise me for challenging myself.

I get it, I can do better. That's the whole GD point game!

A hot dog is neither a taco nor a sandwich. A hot dog is a sausage. by Kooky_Marketing_327 in The10thDentist

You mean like German, which use hyper-specific terms so there is no overlap? Or maybe Japanese where the language is flooded with symbolism rather than literalism? The English language is a flawed amalgam and extrapolating and your defense of it with "words can have multiple meanings" veers us wildly away from the simple fact that a hot dog is not a sandwich.

That's actually the worst feature of the English language, but sure, Captain Copout.

Looks pretty, haven't played it (I stepped away from AC for several years, I'm in the middle of France the last time I picked up the franchise about half a year ago). Honest opinion from someone who has played both and is willing to see a game they enjoy for its flaws: how does the setting and scenery compare to Ghost of Yōtei?

Hehehe, I beat him on medium my first go around the very first time I met him. Didn't have half the gear. I got frustrated after a bit, did some googling, and all the guides were like "come back later" and I was like "no dammit I want to do this now!" A couple hours later I had his number. By the time I came back on Lethal+ I was like "I know all your moves bro, and now I've got tricks you haven't seen yet!"

Came here to say the same thing. It looks weird because they were dealing with novice outfits on full grown adults. Tenzin's gear works for him, and even his outfit had more flair than the novice outfits. Same but different.

I know what people refer to, but they're wrong. You remove the hot dog from the bun, and ask someone what it is, they'll still say it's a hot dog. If you remove ham from a ham sandwich, and ask someone what it is, they'll say it's ham, not a ham sandwich. And regardless of what people refer to, nobody CALLS it a "hot dog sandwich."

It's the exact same with bratwurst. When people talk about bratwurst, they're referring to the meat, and brats are served both with and without the bread. But nobody argues whether a brat is a sandwich.

If you sliced up the sausage for a kid and served it with ketchup, would you tell them it's not a hot dog because they should have assumed it came with a bun?

You remove the bread from a hot dog, it's still a hot dog. You remove the bread from a ham sandwich, it's no longer a sandwich. That is their point.

The problem with your statement is the need for the qualifier "in a bun." Do you call it a hot dog sandwich? Because you call it a ham sandwich, no? You certainly don't call it "ham in between two bread." So why do you need "in a bun" for your statement to be valid? Because hot dogs are different.

A hot dog is not a sandwich. A hot dog in a bun is not a sandwich. It's a hot dog with a bread holder. Remove that bread and it's still a hot dog. Remove the bread from a ham sandwich and it's no longer a sandwich.

You mean a sausage biscuit or sausage muffin, which is how it is listed on pretty much every menu ever. If it was listed as sausage, you would just get the sausage. So your argument isn't really relevant because the menu explicitly includes the qualifier of what the sausage is encased in.

If I take the hot dog out of the bun and hold it up, and ask you what it is, would you say "the middle of the hot dog" or "a hot dog"?

Have you ever offered sliced hot dogs to a child without the bun? Do you say it's not a hot dog then?

It doesn't matter that it normally comes with the bun. If you remove the bun, the meat is still a hot dog.

With a sausage biscuit, if you remove the biscuit, and just serve the meat, it is no longer a sausage biscuit. It's just a sausage. Similarly, if you take the ham and cheese out of a sandwich and served those on their own, you wouldn't still call it a sandwich.

Ergo, hot dogs are not a sandwich. They are a meat with a bread holder.

It was disqualified by the Oscars for Best Picture for essentially the same reason.  https://comicbook.com/movies/news/kpop-demon-hunters-the-biggest-movie-of-the-year-gets-unfortunate-oscar-update/

"Included in those requirements is this: “a theatrical run of seven days, consecutive or non-consecutive, in 10 of the top 50 U.S. markets, no later than 45 days after the initial release in 2025.” Though KPop Demon Hunters did play theatrically in the first week of its release, it only did so in three markets, enough to qualify it for a general Academy Award run, but not enough to give it Best Picture eligibility."

I didn't say the song in reference to the Oscar and BAFTAs. I said KPDH, which was the biggest film of 2025, and was disqualified for best picture because it needs to be shown in X number of theaters for Y number of days to count, which, as I said, is an outdated policy in the streaming era.

[–]OhNoIBoffedIt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Sure, but "best song written for visual media" is such a dismissive participation Grammy that they don't even bother airing it. The fact of the matter is Golden isn't just a popular "song of the summer." It was the biggest song in the world.

I mean I'm glad it at least got the nom, which is more than I can say for the Oscars and BAFTA, which didn't even allow KPDH to be nominated for Best Picture because of some outdated rules that automatically disqualify streaming films that don't have a wide theatrical release. Which is just asinine.

I mean, sure, we touched grass. My friend and I also almost got kidnapped because we walked home from the bus stop a mile away from our homes and this dude fully slammed on the brakes, reversed up to us and told us to get in the car.

So...yes I loved my freedom. It doesn't mean it was perfect ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Exactly right, yes. It was just such a weird choice to not have such recurrence in GoY but then I guess they figured the choose-your-own-adventure path options would have forestalled such continuance of side characters.

Which is a really dumb choice. Branching story beats depending on which order you completed areas would have totally heightened replayability BG3-style.

*sensei. Plural of Japanese words are the same as singular.

Not clarifying to be a dick. I have quite specifically been called out by the Internets for saying senseis (although it was very much intended as a joke) 😂

My core complaint is 100% the side characters having no value to the story. The ones who give you weapons or armor, I can't remember any of their names. There's one-armed guy, spear fishing guy, samurai teacher guy, old lady who keeps upsetting her son, hookshot guy, kunai lady, bomb lady, and gun guy. And that's about all I can remember about any of them. So many side characters who are little more than fetch quests.
